guys like anthony are actually making the situation worse, and make us look bad. i'd rather someone intelligent, capable of reasonable discourse, attempt to raise these issues with beta/fernando. it's guys like him who cause team brazil to write us all off as trolls, and ignore us, even when we're merely voicing fair opinions. i would LOVE to have a direct, 1-on-1 with beta or fernando. give me ten minutes with either of them.

the first item on the agenda would be, it's 2013 and the internet exists: every single artist on earth has learned to deal with leaks in the past ten years. more and more artists work with them and embrace them. it's something that just HAPPENS, period, and i don't believe for a minute that the label is "angry" about the leaks -- i think beta is angry about them. if MSL is to believed the label doesn't even want to release this music.

labels have leak divisions. their sole purpose is to report and remove links to copyrighted material on p2p websites and file sharing servers. geffen has a leak division. there is no way they would be "angry" about a single song on an as-yet-to-be-confirmed album leaking onto the internet in shitty quality. it's another day at the office for them.

anyway, it's beside the point. most fans hungry for new material have already expressed a complete willingness to PAY for a copy of new songs like "going down." i'd pay for a copy of it. i'd pay ten bucks for a single song, how's that?

the smarmy, they-ruined-it (ruined what, precisely? endless touring?) mentality, the indignant tone...i don't know where to begin...it's all embarrassing, and no one in a management position of a professional artist should ever be talking to fans like that, period. it's not the first time she has been extremely rude to fans online. you are representing an artist that was around, and had a legion of fans, before you ever came into the picture. you show a little respect for the brand you're representing, and what it means to people.

and if you're that upset about a song leaking onto the internet maybe you should try releasing

Just my opinion but the band (everyone) and the management (everyone) should just ignore everything that's going on on forums or social media. I don't see Slash replying to someone who tried to cupcake him or whatever. Why do they care?

I don't need them to come here and socialise with us, I don't want that, I want them to do what bands are suppose to do: make music.

I totally agree. You don't see this level of animosity and odd personal interest in online fan forums from most other bands' management because, frankly, most other bands have fans outside the Internet circle. GN'R as it exists in today's form does not.

Other bands surely have people to handle their official forums and social media, sure, and yeah, that stuff is monitored and embraced, but you don't normally see other big stadium bands -- Bon Jovi, maybe, or Pearl Jam, or comparable '80s/'90s bands -- copping the attitude towards online fans that GN'R does. I don't think the direct managers of the guys in those bands really get worked up about comments made by some people online, you know what I mean? Do you think they really care, in 2013, an era where EVERYTHING leaks online before release, when the lead single from the new Pearl Jam album leaks online a couple weeks ahead? Do you think instead of being happy that people still care about them, the PJ managers get mad at the fans for "stealing" their music? (Even though those die hard fans will end up buying the album anyway?)

GN'R is an odd creature. They're one of the biggest bands in history, they can tour endlessly and rope in the casual fan. But because of their unique history they don't have many active fans. People know Slash left and the pop culture perception is that the band broke up. I speak to many people all the time who don't even realize they're still touring. You pretty much HAVE to go online and search hard to be able to follow this band and its current members. It's not as exclusive with most other bands -- they do a lot of press, TV interviews, junkets, all kinds of stuff, so that the average person reading Rolling Stone or watching the Tonight Show can still keep up with what's going on with, like, Pearl Jam or something: who's in the band, what they're doing, when the new album is coming out, interviews with individual members, blah, blah, blah. Apart from the very, very, very rare occasional appearance (like Kimmel), you can't really do that with GN'R. You are forced to go to online forums to really read up on the vague rumours and hearsay about what's going on with the group.

We represent the active fans, the ones who follow the band online and actually show an interest in the changing lineup. Joe Schmoe who goes to see them goes to hear the big hits and might leave thinking, "That was great, but it sucks that Slash left." That's the reality that Axl has been up against since day one, it's why he felt so much pressure I'm sure to deliver a solid record and live up to expectations, but he's NEVER made it easy, unfortunately, for Joe Schmoe to follow this band and take anything away from the new lineup, because even when he finally did put out new music, even by then half the actual band that recorded the album was long gone. Unlike most bands it's hard for anyone to really take an active interest in GN'R today because they don't operate like a normal band, to the average person it's just Axl Rose and some other guys and they've done little to change that. It's just really weird.

So essentially we are the relatively small dedicated fanbase who actually care about the personalities still involved in GN'R, the ones who talk about Ron Thal and DJ Ashba (guys who, no offense to either of them, the average person has never heard of) and who look forward to hearing music from these guys (whereas Joe Schmoe would probably only really perk his ears if there were some kind of hyped-up reunion record). I'm not being pessimistic or anything, I'm just being a realist. That's why this fan forum is small, but dedicated.

I think that's why Beta and co. pay attention to the forums and have this weird hatred for us. Whether they realize it or not, most of the people who go to GN'R shows in 2013 are not going because they are fans of THIS lineup of GN'R. They're going because they like WTTJ and SCOM and want to hear them, and see Axl. That's it.

We're like a thorn in their side because we're the ones who are standing there saying, "So, uh, about that new music?" And so from their perspective I honestly think instead of viewing us as fans who are interested in these bandmembers, they view us as a collective of trolls who are out to get Axl and don't care about the band.

It couldn't be farther from the truth or we all would have left this place years ago.

repost the picture, fernando has insisted that its an old message? could this be from years ago in reference to the old leaks

Instagram didn't have chat until recently, so Fernando is a liar like always.

This is why TB needs to communicate with the fans. If this is true how many of us have reemed them out for what was a bunch of bs? Myself included.

Fernando needs to clear the air on this one as manager of GnR. There's alot of negativity because of what could be a hoax. If it is a hoax.

yeah we've all been trolled. if he faked Ron's comment, then the beta comment is an old one - or made up entirely.

Nah, that Bumblefoot tweet Alfierose posted shows it's real.

Post of the year/decade. Sad but true.
