Vinyl LP and Turntable Discussion

I skipped this RSD, first time I’ve done that in a couple of years. Very poor list I think and the ones I wanted have been delayed to June anyway.

Picked up both Sons of Apollo vinyls last week, the 2 x vinyl plus CD versions. I like it when they do that.

2 records arrived today! Fleetwood Mac's second self titled album, the first with the Buckingham/Nicks lineup (pressed on white vinyl, it's a beauty!) and the Complete Thom Bell Sessions by Elton John from RSD. Cracked open a few beers upon my return from the Celtic game and threw both on the turntable. Hope you've all had a great weekend!

I picked up the MOV pressing of Who's Next to replace my horrendous 2015 reissue of it and the difference is HUGE! Wow. I also had Gerry Rafferty's Rest In Blue arrive, though I've still to drop that on the turntable.

Added a few from my want list this week:

Takin’ Off - Herbie Hancock

Endless River - Pink Floyd

Rattle That Lock - David Gilmour

I shoild listen to Endless River more than I do. I really do like it, I just sort of let it fall by the wayside.

I love Endless River. I remember when it first came out I was “what the hell is this?” But I’ve matured into various musical genres since, listen to a lot of ambient, and really love it now. You need to be in the mood, but that applies to many albums. It was also a VERY brave thing to do I think, to release an album that ambient and unique.

Hey guys, some of you will remember me posting about a local act here in Scotland a few months back called John Doc. I uploaded all of his officially released albums on vinyl onto YouTube along with some cassette's that I had and shared to the communities that he was a major part of to much delight of those that seen him in his pomp.

He was a good friend of my Grandad, and in total honesty, it's because of my Grandad that I've went through all of this effort as I know he'd have been absolutely delighted in me sharing all of Doc's music. I finished uploading the last of the 'decent' cassette's that I had last night and shared them once again, and this happened not too long ago. (I edited out some little bits, not because of any of you in here, but some of the parasites that linger this board). To say I'm buzzing is an understatement. The fact that Doc, who will be getting up there in age himself, still talks about my Grandad and the laughs they shared makes everything worthwhile.

News just got to me that John passed away a few days ago. Despite his advancing years, it's still a bit of a blow, but what a life he lived. He had many opportunities to hit the big time but valued his time with his family as more important and still made a fantastic living performing at all the Social Clubs all over Scotland when that form of entertainment was thriving at it's peak. I'll be sure to toast the man and his music this evening with a dram or two.

Rest in eternal greatness, John!

Wow Russ, wasn’t expecting that! Fair play though, great decision and pleased you are happy.

Thank you. I do have fun plans for the channel going forward, so I hope everyone digs it. I'll probably just post those videos in the Infectious Groove thread though because I don't wanna clog up the vinyl thread with non vinyl stuff.

New video with a major update :)

damn, that's a big move.

I've debated in recent times on condensing pretty seriously and going half vinyl and half digital or something.

My issue is I feel like I will little by little just build my collection back up though, so I'm not sure if it's worth purging a bunch of stuff or not.

When I first moved down here, I was thinking I'd rebuild the collection to some extent. After a few months, I'm starting to think I won't bother. That collector was a LOT to keep up with and I don't see trying again going well 😂
