ToonGuns
Actually physically went into a record store this week! In Canterbury, UK. Picked up: Johnny Winter And - Live (top album! Rick Derringer in fine form) Also bought off ebay: Stevie Ray Vaughan - Couldn't Stand The Weather (limited deluxe edition with 12 bonus tracks, silver vinyl)
ToonGuns
Also bought off Amazon: Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing (Russ - another one for you to check out 😉) Steven Wilson - Transience It turns out Transience was mis-advertised (advertised as including download card and with high quality inserts, turns out no download card and cheap paper inserts) so after complaining Amazon gave me a full refund and let me keep the vinyl! Bonus.

Bonus. I promise I'm gonna get to Steve Wilson eventually! Lol Your bit about the inserts reminded me of something. I posted recently that I bought some bootlegs and some official pressings. The Van Halen live bootleg I bought was 3 LPs for $55 and it came with rice paper, anti static inner sleeves. On the same day, I bought the Beck - Odelay reissue. The Beck LP is an official pressing. It was $25 for 1 LP and it came with regular (terrible) paper inner sleeve.

Nothing winds me up more than those cheap paper inserts. I genuinely don't get it. If I was an artist I would not want my fans feeling ripped off or experiencing a sub-par product. It just seems cheap and tacky and is false economy, as they end up going in the bin anyway. Waste of paper. Pink Floyd and Kimg Crimson are very good at this though - high quality products with anti-static inners on all the new re-releases.

Dude.....I paid over $700 for the Ozzy boxed set and it had sitty paper inner sleeves. What. The. Fuck. How are you gonna charge me $700 for a boxed and then put the LPs in shitty paper sleeves?! Needless to say, I resleeved every album, but the point is that there's no way I should have had to.

Jeez... I'd be writing a formal letter of complaint I think! That must be Sharon! Was that the same boxset that recently made Discogs most expensive list (the entire back catalogue on various coloured marble vinyls?). I ended up not biting on that Black Label Society boxset. Couldn't justify it.

We stopped in at a casino and I hit for $1300 on a $1.50 bet on a slot machine, so I took that as a sign from the good lord that I should order the Ozzy set haha. I'm gonna do a video about it on the channel eventually. The paper sleeve thing is my only complaint but it's a big complaint when you consider the price of the set. The Dissident
Been on a bit of a CD and Vinyl online shopping spree as of late in terms of Vinyl I'm awaiting orders on the following: Deep Purple - Purpendicular Deep Purple - Whoosh! Myles Kennedy - The Ides Of March (Ordered months ago) Nightwish - Century Child Nightwish - Imaginaerum Porcupine Tree - Deadwing Queensryche - The Warning (Used) Scorpions - In Trance (Used) CD wise I also am awaiting 9 albums, only 1 of which is duplicated above...
ToonGuns
Question for you guys... if you bought a second hand vinyl (off eBay, private seller on Discogs etc) and it turned up in "pristine" condition... except it stank of smoke... would you complain? Bought two used vinyls, paid top dollar ($50 each) and they stink, but are otherwise excellent. Am trying to air them, but they've clearly been sat in a heavy smoker's living room... and I am a total non smoker. 16 hours ago, The Dissident said: Been on a bit of a CD and Vinyl online shopping spree as of late in terms of Vinyl I'm awaiting orders on the following: Deep Purple - Purpendicular Deep Purple - Whoosh! Just out of interest what's the idea behind collecting both vinyl and CD's? Is there bonus tracks? I sold my CDs maybe 4 years ago on ebay... kind of regret that but needed the money at the time. 🤷♂️ Purpendicular and Deadwing are amazing albums. Edited May 26, 2021 by ToonGuns . If I really enjoy the album I usually get it on vinyl. That being said when I listen to music I'm often more invested when listening to a physical record than playing a CD through a stereo. I get CDs primarily so I can load them onto an Ipod for use at work, exersize and for the car. I don't like purchasing digital because I prefer to have hard copy versions.

Hmm....I'd probably complain if the smoke smell wasn't mentioned in the description. I've seen other people do that to varying degrees of success. Smell doesn't get mentioned a lot in seller descriptions, but I think it should be if it's extreme. I've only had one record arrive smelling like smoke but it wasn't too bad, so I let it slide. If it were two, it was real bad AND they didn't mention it, I'd probably complain.

I've been lucky in that regard and while it's an inconvenience, if it plays well and is something you had your eye on for a while, just try and air it. However, dropping the seller a message just explaining that you weren't too pleased that it was so prominent may get you a slight discount. Nothing worse than overpowering fag smoke though, it would definitely scunner me too. On 5/26/2021 at 11:58 PM, The Dissident said: If I really enjoy the album I usually get it on vinyl. I took better care of my CD's as I got older, but haven't bought one in years. The last that comes to mind was Jeff Lynne's re-recordings of ELO's greatest hits back in 2012. Cool to see someone else still using an iPod - I'd be lost without mine.

I don't leave the house without my ipod, I'm willing to leave my phone but I almost always have music playing and the sheer amount I have would fill up the phone's storage which I also like to avoid.

Tremendous. I used to get asked all the time why I have two phones, but it was exactly that, so much music that I didn't want to take up all the space on my phone. A 60+ year old man said to me "you're still not using an iPod are you?". I couldn't believe it!!

He's re-releasing his albums from the mid 70's with the Celtic crest as the middle sticker - I'd have loved to have picked them up despite having the original pressings, but not at the price he's wanting for them. Everything from An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down to A Night on the Town are essential listening in my opinion! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rod-Stewart-1975-1978-VINYL/dp/B092KDZKBP/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=rod+stewart+vinyl&qid=1622207871&sr=8-1
RussTCB
Just got back from the record store. Picked up the following: Royal Blood - Typhoons Taylor Swift - evermore Pink Floyd - The Wall 2016 pressing. I previously had the 2012 pressing that I hated with a living passion, but never did anything about lol. I finally replaced it with the 2016 pressing that gets rave reviews.

ToonGuns
Wow... thought I was the only bloke still using an iPod. I have a 160gb 10 year old ipod with 16,000+ songs on it. Use it in the car. It's got every album I've ever owned on it. Could not live without it. Seems we're all a bunch of like-minded fools! 2
Dean
The chat on Coldplay in the main section made me listen to Mylo Xyloto again. Always loved that album, so have that coming. Picked up The Weeknd's Starboy, Empire of the Sun's Two Vines and Bad Company's Straight Shooter too.
