gnfnrs1972 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Did any of you talk a best buy into selling or giving away the display that the cds and vinyl were in? Or do you know anyone that has one?
drtydane Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) Sumone here set one up in his living room and had as his cd rack I think. This was years ago. Forget dudes name. Edited September 3, 2013 by drtydane
patmac54 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I was working at Best Buy at the time. I was able to keep two peices from the display and had them framed...I'll try to post a pic
patmac54 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I'm having trouble posting it from my iPhone, sorry
gnfnrs1972 Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 The best buy in my town were not so helpful. Would not even sell it. Said they had to send all promotional things back to the label. I wanted it to keep all my cds in to.
Black Sabbath Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I didn't work there at the time or I would have definitely taken the display. Would be a cool little item to have.
RussTCB Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 The guy who posts 97% of the content at paradisecity.com has one.
ClaudeF Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Nice to see that again. The Sunday the record came out I waited in front of one Best Buy store only to find out it wouldn't open for another hour, drove about 20 miles away to another one that WAS open and was the first person to buy the album off that display. I remember being honored (and a little shocked) that nobody else had come in during the meantime. I expected a line out the door. It was the first time I realized the world at large was not anxiously awaiting this record.
axlrosefan4life Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I've got one! I also have the large display poster that was posted up at best buy.
Obsession Of Vanity Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 The amount of money I would pay for the CD promotional items is pathetic.
Birk Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I have one also, and i also have about 5 or 6 of the big (vinyl type) promo posters. I did get the black one framed, but all the others are awkward shaped so they are hard to frame. All of mine are in great condition still. I also had some window decals which were on the best buys doors.
Guest NGOG Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Who gives a fuck? It doesn't matter how many silly little Chinese Democracy things you collect to decorate your bedroom or appease a sense of boredom, you still only have 14 songs.

It doesn't matter how many silly little Chinese Democracy things you collect to decorate your bedroom or appease a sense of boredom, you still only have 14 songs.Someone's cranky today....and yet I agree. I went to buy it opening day (was the only one waiting for the store to open, I looked like a fool) but CD was just thrown in a bin on the side of a store. Took me ages to find it.
BangoSkank Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I remember bolting from work and picking up my roommate (who was not a fan, but wanted to see me finally get it),We walked into Best Buy, looked at the display rack and he just said: "It's surprisingly well-stocked."

Not a single one had sold.
volcano62 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Music's most anticipated album EVER? LolYesWho gives a fuck? Not a single one had sold. Bullshit.HMV Canada had lineups.I don't think the US is any different from us.
magisme Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I never even bought the album.Poser It's my one little retarded way of having agency in the GNR world. I own everything else, plus shirts and hats and posters and all that. And I've been to a bunch of shows, including the back-to-back he skipped out on in Philly '02, so my conscience is pretty clear re forking over money to GNR/TB.
liers Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 CD was doomed from 2006 on. Everyone who was a fan had heard most of the songs in one place or another, so who needed to buy the real thing?
