AlterL
ahh Black Sabbath, maybe if you try really hard to see it, but Led Zeppelin? I'm sorry I just don't see it. Besides this song only sound like GN'R in the intro and in the way the vocals are sung. nothing more in that department
Val22
I agree. It sounds a little like You could be Mine.A7X are big GNR fans. They opened for Axl and GNR in Europe and M. Shadows was on one of Slash's albums. When I met them, M. Shadows noticed my deathbat tattoo and also my GNR tattoo. He said it was cool and he liked GNR too. I almost said, DUH. lol I know they love GNR.I think the new cd is awesome. M. Shadows sounds great and the whole band rocks! Can't wait until October 19 to see the live again. I think this cd shows all A7X's musical influences and that's cool.
classicguns4life
I just heard the album yesterday. Being a music fan, I've obviously known about these guys for years. I had a friend that was way into them when Beast And The Harlot came out and I remember really liking that song and whatever the album was called (Bat Country?).So I'm seeing excellent reviews for this new album and gave it a spin yesterday on Spotify. I really wanted to like it, but it did absolutely nothing for me. I don't know what it was, but nothing shot out at me. I've heard they've gotten more mainstream with time and it certainly sounded that way on the album. I've heard the single for a month now or so and its a pretty standard track with a chorus that I never think is as rallying as they think it is. The rest of the album was just pretty blah to me. Nothing in particularly stood out and anything that was good was pretty generic.Good for them with the success, as they've been around long enough where I'm happy they're getting some recognition, but just not my style, at least this current album. wasted
I think it sounds more like Megadeth. This Means War sounds like Metallica.Hail to the King is very Black Label Society.Sheperd of Fire is very Iron Maiden.
The Real McCoy
Think that Shadows is trying to look like anyone we know with his new look? Kinda blatant, eh? Edited September 7, 2013 by The Real McCoy
classicguns4life
Think that Shadows is trying to look like anyone we know with his new look? Kinda blatant, eh? He has recorded with Slash recently so I'm sure its the cancer's fault as usual.

J Dog
It does sound a little like them. And I know they are big GNR fans, but I always thought they were closer to Metallica. I like this album though. Edited September 7, 2013 by J Dog

I like this album though. If Metallica and guns n roses had a bastard love child, its name would be avenged sevenfold. Not as good as either, but not bad. eye2eye
Think that Shadows is trying to look like anyone we know with his new look? Kinda blatant, eh? No, he was going with that trucker hat bandana thing for years with short hair, now he has long hair so what ? Whatever suits him And I absolutely love this new album , it's clear that they were influenced by classic metal and hard rock bands but somehow for me it sound fresh and full of passion. Also I completely adore they way that album was produced there is so much space that you can almost feel all the instruments breathing. A lot of people complain that drum patterns are simple, but for me it is awesome how drumms drive almost every track and their new drummers is really pounding. It's probably my favorite A7X record, beacuse they get rid of that cheesiness that ruined a lot of their songs for me. I love some of their songs like Beast and the Harlot, Bat Country, Afterlife, Almost Easy, Nightmare but majority of their songs were pretty weak, on this album almost every track is very strong. Also M. Shadows does the best impersonation I've ever heard of Axl's voice in Doing Time.
ManetsBR
Think that Shadows is trying to look like anyone we know with his new look? Kinda blatant, eh? No, he was going with that trucker hat bandana thing for years with short hair, now he has long hair so what ? Whatever suits himEver since when he didn't have the big hair, it was already inspired by Axl. I saw'em live on 2010 with Mike Portnoy, was on the first row with my friends. Funny, we didn't know any Avenged Sevenfold songs, who they were or anything. It was a festival and we were there for Queens Of The Stone Age and Linkin Park. When they opened with Nightmare, Matt appeared with that bandana-cap,sunglasses look and a red lumberjack shirt. One of my friends turned and said "When did young Axl joined this band?"He looks even more like Axl now.

Iron MikeyJ
It honestly amazes me how much MyGNR cares about this album.I can only speak for myself, but I do feel it might be worth a look. They will never be one of my personal favs, but it is good hard rock/metal. They are flying the "metal" flag for a new generation, thats a good thing imo. I know a couple of "kids" that love them. They have a good grasp on the 13~23 crowd. Once upon a time that was the gnr crowd, can't hate for that. But if you plain can't stand their music, thats you opinion. Dan H.
They are not flying the flag of anything.I hope I never meet a 23 year old who likes Avenged Sevenfold.
sweetness
aside from how unoriginal, safe, and uninspired this album sounds, the production is really awful. It sounds so clean and perfect and yet so small, I'm sorry but Avenged Sevenfold lost their balls a long time ago, and the Axl impersonation is laughable... Like it or not but they are flying the metal flag. They have huge following, over 8mln albums sold worldwide and they sold out their shows. And yes they are metal, you may not like it, think it's cheesy ( some of their songs are very) but they show usually younger audience there is something different then pop, and I'm sure some of their fans thanks solely to them found out about Pantera, Megadeth, Gn'R, Metallica, Black Sabbath. And they are all FANTASTC musicians, M. Shadows is awesome vocalist, Synyster can shred and play mean guitar with ease and Rev was an outstanding drummer. Also they came up with some fanastic guitar solos which is always nice. Edited September 8, 2013 by eye2eye

eye2eye
nice trolling effort, I'm not even huge fan of them like some of their songs and enjoy new album and how so over 5minutes songs with no big choruses, with long guitar solos, pounding drums and agressive vocals are POP ? I don't care about how much you hate/dislike this band but they're not pop and yes they're metal.

I actually am a fan of their earlier albums, but that was before they neutered themselves and turned into a glossy radio friendly pop/hard rock act to be played between Nickleback and Three Days Grace

They aren't flying the flag of anything dude. Not only are they awful mall pop metal, but flying the flag implies they are leading some kind of metal movement, which they certainly aren't. They just happen to be one of many popular yet shitty metal bands.
