What sucks is that future shows are likely to feature even worse vocals and an even less mobile Axl than this. It's at this point in his career that those lost years seem so important. He could have been in top form from 94-00, but instead he hermited up and decided to tour his ass off when he was no longer any good. Very sad.

I was at the concert and he sounded awful.

Then I went to the Rotterdam gig a few days later and he sounded terrific, just goes to show.

The Mickey Mouse voice may creep in here more often than I'd like, but damn, this is a cool gig. I'd never actually watched it all before. I'm up to Shackler's Revenge and it's just a damn good setlist (some of the less common ChiDem tracks are creeping in, like ChiDem for example), plus 14 Years with Izzy!

I think most fans will enjoy it regardless of the fact that Axl's voice fluctuates wildly.

if you REALLY want to break it down, is it that much different than any promotional event? anyone watch any sporting events? movie premieres? you think those hot chicks walking around the red carpet or the sports field are doing it because they're huge fans? or is it because of their attractiveness and what it inherently lends to the atmosphere of the event?

ultimately it's a business and they help sell it. i remember a few years back being kinda pissed off because some hot girl was talking about how she got a free ticket (via her rich businessman father) for frontrow at the led zep O2 gig. i mean, there are so many fans worldwide who would have given their ballsack to be there, and she got frontrow and basically took it for granted. she was saying how she had never even heard their music before and she's sitting there frontrow at their big reunion gig.

he (and was it really him? or maybe team brazil?) were probably aware that this gig was slated for theatrical distribution at one point.

all i'm saying is, it makes sense from a business/image perspective that you'd want some hot chicks in the front to help sell the overall package and give it that sexy rock n' roll image. yeah, it's fake. yeah, they didn't have to do it 20 years ago when the band was also in their 20s and courted a younger fanbase. but it's not like they really screwed people out of tickets or slighted the die-hard fans, because ultimately hot chicks are ALWAYS the ones who get special treatment...they're always gonna be the ones picked out of the crowd to come backstage, not just with GN'R but with most rock bands, it's part of the whole package. it just seems like kind of a dumb thing to complain about imo, "THEY PUT HOT WOMEN IN THE FRONT ROW"... just not that shocking to me, there are worse things to get riled about.

I mean, yeah, in that sense I'll concede it's kind of lame. GN'R in their prime probably wouldn't have ever done that. But at the same time given his management I feel like it may not even be something he gave the OK to. could easily be something that was arranged without his knowledge. just playing devil's advocate.
