This sounds like a good idea. The General seems perfect for this movie.

Yes! Especially because we totally know what it sounds like and what it's about. So we can really determine whether or not it fits the movie!

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL so true!

You guys are hilarious.

When debating about how much promotion CD got, I always mention that a song off CD was featured in a major motion picture - featuring Leonardo Dicaprio, who is one of the biggest stars in the world, and Russell Crowe, another A-list star.........a 100 million dollar movie with two A-list actors and an A-list director...........and the response from the axl nutter's is "Oh, that movie sucked."

But now you are all dreaming about Axl adding a song to this movie? Funny stuff. So if this movie bombs and the Axl single bombs, then you will all come here and say "oh, it doesn't really count because the movie sucked."

Axl won't have a song in a big time movie right now because there is no demand for a GnR song.

GnR needs to go back to their roots. Don't write a top 10 single, don't try and write a song for a big budget movie. Don't try and put out the greatest album of the last century. Don't try and bury Appetite.

Write and record a solid, old fashion rock n roll album. Build up their credibility again amongst rock fans. That's what GnR needs to do, imo.

The thing with ITW is, they did a half-assed job. Look at the YCBM/Terminator 2 deal. You had a big movie with a song that was also a single receiving airplay and a video on tv featuring the band combined with the big star combined with movie images. THAT is promotion. Not hearing a song nobody ever heard before and will never head again play of during the credits of a movie. Combining your song with a movie CAN work very well, but you have to do it properly. Not half-arsed like with ITW.

And that's typical GnR these days. Doing things half-arsed and expecting it to work out.

The movie did suck A LOT.

Captain Obvious wins again.

Exactly.

Axl couldn't even be bothered to do a video for this album.

That's what is frustrating. So much talent and so much potential.......and Axl is the guy who refuses to act on any of it.

I don't like Ashba at all, but was excited when Axl added him to the band simply because I thought he'd be the guy who could convince Axl to do media, release videos, release albums, etc.

Lolcano, per usual you miss the point.

Nobody knew the movie would suck BEFORE it was released.

But what is your point? If you were the band's manager and the movie company came up to you and said "We'd like to use one of your songs in an upcoming movie that features Leo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, you up for it?"..............YOU would have said "Nope. No thanks. I think that movie is going to suck."

It's easy for guys like you to cherry pick and arm-chair quarterback events AFTER they happen. It makes it easier for you to find excuses why Axl has failed.

And we all know that if Axl came out and said that it was his favorite movie all time, you'd suddenly declare that it was also YOUR favorite movie of all time. And the reason it failed at the box office was because the common fan couldn't comprehend the greatness of the movie.

Also let's not forget there was no fancy video like T2

Exactly. Axl continues to shoot himself in the foot in terms of promoting CD.

I actually like the song and think it could have been a hit on the rock charts.......if Axl would have promoted it.

People say music videos don't matter anymore? Miley Cryus's latest video got 37 MILLION views in the first week. I'd say that music videos can be pretty good promotional tools.

HHmmmmm..........maybe Axl and Beta should do a twerking video for the debut single on the next album?

I honestly don't think a video would do Guns N' Roses any good at this point. I get what you're saying about Miley Cyrus and other artists but I don't think that would work for GN'R fan base. I honestly think a sports tie in (insert MLB joke here) would be their best bet.

Sometimes I honestly doubt figures like that... Don't quote me on this, but I thought I heard something about certain celebrities (namely Gaga, but there were others too) having fake followers on their Instagrams, Twitter, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if there were certain companies you could pay who'd inflate numbers of views on Youtube, or shit, really any other social media site that tracks stuff like followers.

If you're a celebrity, or hell, anyone, and you'd like to pay some money to boost your numbers, that's fine, but the moment you try to use your "following" to monetize (sell t-shirts, calendars, whatever), you probably shouldn't be surprised when you've got jack shit for sales. Because you know, a good percentage of your followers are fake or bots (though it makes you appear more popular than you already are)

It seems like it's all or nothing type situation nowadays. maybe GNR don't make enough money to be blowing money on videos. So they would be pretty low budget. They aren't the darlings of the industry by a long shot so everythings a ball ache to do. If the records were selling like hot cakes and 5 mil was a drop in 100 mil they made back it's like who cares. But now 5 mil or 1 mil for video makes the whole thing a futile enterprise.

I think a video on youtube out of the blocks must help sales, but then there's this issue of representing the new guys as GNR, whether that lowers sales or stirs up to much negativity.

I wonder whether this is some kind of stand by Axl to not sell out or operate like a pop band. The music is what they are selling via live shows.

Maybe also videos are a played out form. Axl did all he wanted with videos in the illusion era.

But there's all those movie shorts for each song some seem like scenes from videos. That stuff would be great Blu ray content at the very least.

Yeah The General or something heavy goes with Expendables. Chop the video with live shows and have choopers and Gatalin guns and Sly runing through the jungle with Arnie blasting terrorists. If the band could shoot the video on set that would give it a PC feel.

Mostly from 13 year olds masturbating over her, parents fuming over what their children are exposed to and 40+ perverts masturbating over her. They get buzz because she already has a reputation to be a complete whore (VMA's) and now managed to solidify that. I'm not sure that's the publicity Axl wants, nor is it the kind he's able to get. :P Miley gets more hits from people who hate her than people who will now buy her "music".
