classicguns4life
Probably old old news to people here, but I just listened to and discovered this interview Axl did with Rockline in 1991. Boy it was awesome. In his prime, totally calm and collected, and just being honest. This interview is the perfect example of why so many of us were such huge fans. They were just so cool. I know its been brought up to Marc and he has agreed. Axl should really do more interviews. He's so good at them and it really shows his best side. Anyway, this hour flew by when I listened to this. Its sad he's not this open anymore or this comfortable. There was specific plans in the early 90s, and I now I feel its kind of whatever happens happens.

classicguns4life
56 songs from the illusion era. What a waste that we'll never hear the other 26And what killed me about what he said was they were "cleaning out the closets". I had heard that before, but then he goes onto say "so the next stuff will be all new material." Which obviously never happened as we got an even further backstep from that with a covers record. So what could really be taken away from classic GNR is they never got to put out that new music. It was all this stuff they had mainly from the 80s that they were trying to get out before really moving on. Its a shame when Axl puts it that way that we never actually got to hear what they would have done had they moved on from all the old stuff they had written already.
classicguns4life
Also, when he talks to Slash on the interview. Funny, heartbreaking, amazing all at the same time. God, I'm sorry they used to be amazing. Can't believe I'd never heard that before. Just hilarious. 30 minutes into the interview and goes on until about 34 minutes in. Bono
It's actually an awesome interview and the callers asked some pretty cool questions. Good stuff. Thanks for posting this.
classicguns4life
Thanks man. Yeah, I was just about to go to sleep so I figured I'd turn on an interview to drift off to. Ended up finding this one and was way too fascinated to go to sleep. But yeah, just when I think the callers are going to be dumb they actually ask really good questions, and this is prime Axl where he's just there to answer any of them. I could imagine listening to this as a kid and being a fan in 1991 and just worshipping him. Truly is an amazing interview front to back that people should check out if they haven't heard it in awhile or ever.

Chuzeville
Funny how Axl didn't mind people taping the Illusion albums.
