Snowmass
Marc- wishful thinking by us all I know....lets say we never had a TB/Beta and never had a "rift" between Axl n Slash....where would Guns be (in your opinion)? 8-10 albums and tours deep....more epic songs? Would they have continued to dominate or would they have kind of faded away like other so called "Hair bands"? (I hate that term).
Izzy_Stradlin_XX
I might be the only one saying this but I think that, Slash or Duff would have died from drug or alcohol abuse or the same thing that's happening now, would have happened with the original line up, exept they would probably release one more album in like 1996 and tour for another three years. I know we criticize alot Axl for touring the same album for like 6 years but the old line up toured Use Your Illusions for about three, so... classicguns4life
I know we criticize alot Axl for touring the same album for like 6 years but the old line up toured Use Your Illusions for about three, so...Ok, they toured Use Your Illusion for 2 and a half years, and a little less than two years from when it was actually released, so don't get it twisted that the original band was anything like the band thats currently "touring". It is completely justifiable that they toured a double album of over two and half hours of material from the beginning of 1991 to the middle of 1993. Thats a long tour, but its honestly not that much long than other bands that have done expansive tours for some huge albums. Metallica toured the same amount of time for the Black Album, and that was only a single album, so at least Guns had enough material over two and a half years to keep us continually interested.Meanwhile, the new band has been touring the same album they've been touring since 2006 and have had nothing else new to bring to the table. If THEY put out a double album, fine I could accept that an album of that magnitude required touring through 2010. But there's no way you can even compare the lazy touring they do now with the huge touring they did in the early 90s.
recklessroad
The fact that it took 4 years to to get URI done between AFD would mean that you would have a record out every 2 years but they grew apart and things had to happen. So if they were all on the same page still then you would have about 5 or 6 records by now Edited September 30, 2013 by recklessroad
