GNR style

As far as I can see nobody has been asking about this,so I thought I would:

So I was wondering about the style of GNR.Image is very important to bands.I know they were heavily influenced by Hanoi Rocks when they started out as GNR and read somewhere that Izzy said that that was a good style to follow,so they wore clothes inspired by them.(HR wore tophats before Slash!I seen it in some interview) So I was wondering if the boys of GNR would like look over each others outfits before photo shoots and concerts?Did they clothesborrow a lot from each other?Where would they buy their clothes?(I read that Slash would often steal or find his clothes in the trash,he once stole a T-shirt from Vicky Hamilton) What´s the story behind Axl`s (buttless) use of the chaps? Was this common stagewear at the time in LA? What did the other guys think of that? (The girls watching the show must have enjoyed it regardless..)

I read that they were wearing make up during concerts and photo shoots at first, but they stopped coming in early for different reasons,so they wouldn`t have time to apply the makeup and played the show without their makeup.

I think I read it in Slash`s book that he wasn`t to happy with Stevens style. Also somewhere I heard that Axl was wearing pieces from his sisters wardrobe during the first parts of the UYI tour (the black tights with red roses were maybe hers first?)He changed his stagewear to more comfortable clothes because he wanted to be able to run around their new stage and the cowboy boots were gone for Axl´s part after this. Also read that the girlfriend of the singer from the band Cult was the first to straighten out Axl hair and then put one of her boyfriends bandannas around his hair, like the way Axl would wear it since.

Were Izzy and Duff the only ones of the band to colour their hair?Did Axl have a spraytan before the RIP show with Metallica and Sebastian Bach? When they were making videos, who was deciding on what to wear,in November Rain for instance?Who was the most vain of all of the boys?

So do you have info on their style choices -please do enlighten us!

You are right Izzy sort of set the style in the beginning. They just sort of went with it for a while. It didn't change the music and by 1986 they toned it down a bit. I'm sure they borrowed some shit from their girlfriends to use on stage at times. I think they ended up finding their own image and that was that.

Van Halen's David Lee Roth wore chaps at a show in 1983... Don't know if there were more rockstars who wore buttless chaps at a certain point in their carreer?

Watch The Decline of Western Civilization 2: The Metal Years, and you'll see another guy on there with the assless chaps (but he looks far better in them than axl ever did LOL). Also, Axl borrowed most of his look from Michael Monroe, and also the snake dance was borrowed as well. Axl gets credit for all of these things because he popularized them, but in reality he assembled all of this from what other people. Michael Jackson did the same thing with e.g. the moonwalk.

As much as I love early Van Halen, there's no denying how gay and full of himself David Lee Roth is. He is absolutely nothing special yet thinks he's the greatest frontman of all time. Just sayin.

I'm really not interested in David Lee Roth. I was merely answering OP's question about the chaps. :)

No artist is a 100% original at start. They all are influenced/inspired by other artists and gradually develop their own style in music as well as in dressing. Like Mike Monroe being influenced by Black Sabbath.
