About Slash's Snakepit

Is there a reason that you know of why Slash won't tour/record with the Ain't Life Grand lineup of Slash's Snakepit? My personal favorite post-Guns solo band of Slash's, i was just curious if there was a reason he didn't call them after VR ended.

I think he did the record did some gigs for it and moved on the the next project. I bet those guys are not even available to tour anyway. Slash will keep touring until he is dead. That what he lives for, playing in front of people but I don't think he would ever go back and redo what he already did with one of his solo records. I'm sure he would do a AFD lineup thing but thats different.

I recall Slash or someone close to the Snakepit camp saying that one of the main problems with that Snakepit line up was Rod Jackson's drug problem (the singer). I don't remember the source, but it should be out there somewhere. Shame though, I thought that album was the best thing since AFD, and maybe the best thing since.

Its sad that Slash also never really thought of the Snakepit as a real band. He has said before that considers VR to be a much more put together group, which I understand. I really like VR, but the Snakepit albums destroy Contraband and Libertad. Ain't Life Grand is better than Contraband (even though Contraband is very good) and 5 O Clock is better than Libertad. Snakepit was the last time Slash did true GNR style rock n roll, and I say that as a big fan of his entire solo career including his most recent efforts. The Snakepit was something really great though that was marred down by various problems unfortunately.

Slash always does that though, he always criticises the previous band he was in. So there was all the stuff when he left GN'R, about wanting a 'low key' thing, without an 'ego frontman'. Then Snakepit was just 'a piece of crap with drug addicts' when Slash was in VR. And then he had a lot to say about Scott when VR broke up. You can see this in GN'R even when Gilby joined; Slash said ''he never liked playing with Izzy''. Slash flip flops all the time.

Slash doesnt 'Flip flop' - he just tells it like it is. Are you saying it would be easy working with a drug-fucked Scott.W ? I imagine Slash trying to stay clean & sober would be annoyed by the constant bad habits of people around him when he has cleaned up his act and matured alot as a man.

On topic - i liked Snakepit but VR was awesome and I liked the heavier music in it. Just my opinion though. Slash's current band is fucking great and i have really enjoyed his last couple of albums.

Slash flip flops like crazy!!

Listen, I have a bunch of interviews which I taped from UK television from the Illusion period. I have one from when had the big stage with Tracy and Roberta and Teddy etc and Slash says ''yeh man, it is cool because we have this big stage and orchestra and it is like a circus and it is the show GN'R have always wanted''. I have another one from about six months later, from the Skin N' Bones tour and Slash states, ''all of that orchestra and dancers was just a bunch of shit. This is the real gnr, stripped down. Guns is fundermentally a raw rock n' roll band''.!

Read any interview by Slash around the time of Snakepit #2: ''yeh man, this is cool. There is no bullshit with this band and we all get along and everything is so much easier than it was with Guns. There is a great atmosphere and the ACDC tour was the best experience of my life''. Compare this with what Slash says in his book where he basically pulls that same band to pieces; he basically calls them a bunch of druggies who were leeching off of his celebrity if I recall!

I am a massive Slash fan - I like him more than Axl - but the guy produces more u-turns than David Cameron.

There's way more to Iggy than those guys are capable of doing justice to man.

In Slashes defence some of them ain't really U-turns as much as like, trying something out and maybe not liking it maybe just wanting to go back to his forte after a while.
