Randy Lahey
Do you think GNR might have stayed together a bit longer if they had had a competent manager instead of Doug Goldstein? Edited October 8, 2013 by Randy Lahey
sweetness
I think they would have stayed together a bit longer if Axl wasn't nearly as paranoid and the rest of the band wasn't smacked out of their minds 24/
recklessroad
Not Really because I think any manager would have been in fear of getting fired. Doug did the best he could, it just sort of got out of control at some point. I think the band would have had a much better chance if they had a good counselor/therapist working with them. However in the end they still wanted different things for the band.
KinseyHolley
Alan Niven wasn't in fear of getting fired.Of course - he got fired.
recklessroad
I don't think Alan thought about that at all. He was there from the start and helped them get to the next level. He was part of the team but from the start he took charge and that finally took a toll on him.
Asia
In my opinion though, Doug did fuck up. Slash has so much against him, probably for a reason. A good manager should try to keep them together instead of siding with just one person and additionally badmouthing the other... I understand he was afraid of being fired but then again, please think ahead. If the band stops existing what does it give you that you weren't fired?
