When did nuGnR reach it's peak in terms of popularity/public and media acceptance?

In my opinion i think next year will be amazing for GNR especially with the rumoured Blu Ray release, the 3D film getting a release in some areas of the world & the fact that down here in Australia they sold out every show in like a good hour with hardly any promotion, GNR now is like for the hardcore fans which i think is great as it weeds out the posers who only know WTTJ & SCOM.

Looks like volcano has some competition.

To answer the OP -- 2001. Hype, 6 new songs in the set list, and Axl looked human...ish.

Also, I thought MSL retired from the GNR community for hookers, and fried chicken.
