Vicky Hamilton writing an autobio

vicky's been talking about the band for years. i don't think she's really got an agenda, she's just trying to make money. can't blame her. she wrote some liner notes for the hollywood rose cd, i remember reading it years ago - she told stories about managing the band early on and meeting axl.

Now that was i called a shameless fame whoring
Appetite For Dysfunctuion?
really?
I really wants those arseholes like her and people who try to make money from their little period in GNR disappeared

the problem is that more and more people like this crawl out of the woodwork due to the band's current state. if they were a more active and prolific band then there'd be less interest in their history, because they'd constantly be progressing and there would be stuff to discuss. but when there's nothing else to talk about of course people's interests will begin to shift towards the past, because what else is there to focus on?

Hand guide?

Like I said, not much info yet. This is actually the first I saw of it. Her original message was "I FINALLY HAVE THE TITLE FOR MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY.... drumroll please...APPETITE FOR DYSFUNCTION (A Hand Guide For Female Rock Management) what do you think?"

I'll post more info as it becomes available

I don't see what the problem is. It was a portion of their lives and they have every right to write about it if they want to. If it offends your delicate sensibilities, simply don't purchase the book. Personally, I'm interested in reading this and the other books from people who are in the process of writing them.

She only worked with GNR for 3 months but she also worked with a lot of other bands and she has been working with bands since around 1980 so she probably has a lot to write about as far as being in the business. By the way she is still working with bands. There is no money in books anymore and it's a lot of work but if she has a story to tell, its a way to get it out there.

She was only with the band for 3 months?! I agree with everything else you said, but from the documentaries I have seen her part of, I thought she was with the band for like 2 or 3 years. She at least talks like she knew them that way. I thought she was with them from like 1985 to 1987 or 1988. I thought when I've seen her speak, she talked about how they started to turn against Steven, which is like 89, so I thought she was at least around that time period.

really?

But it's OK for GnR to use L.A.M.F. off of Johnny Thunders and Ain't it Fun and all that?

but I hope she would be more credible than Mick Wall, who wrote Axl's biography, not having spoken to him in 20 years

What about people that write biographies after people are dead and they've never met?

Marc, do you still speak to Vicky? do you know if she is on good terms with the old band members?

It will be an entertaining read, I'm sure, but we will have to remember how hazy her memory is. For instance, she has already claimed several times to be the person who introduced Slash to Axl, which we know from Canter is not true. So there will be a lot of that, I'm sure. Things which Vicki recalls, which are very interesting, but not exactly true.

The band got them self on a gig that she booked at the Stardust Ballroom 6/20/85 but it wasn't Vicky who asked them to play. The band managed them selfs until Dec 1985 and then hired Jet Boys MGR for about 2 to 3 weeks and then changed to VIcky in Jan of 1986. She was with the band for 6 gigs and 2 of them were at the Roxy on the same night. She was able get her hand on 30 thousand which she put into the band and was let go in April of 1986 because the band felt she didn't have what it took to get the band to the next level. Slash and Axl decided on their own that when they get money, they were going to give he 50,000 but for what ever reason they didn't do it and she ended up taking them to court. Even though Vicky put in a great effort, I think either way They were going to get signed by Tom Zutaut from Geffen Records because he had already heard about the band and was already trying to gig to one of their gigs. I'm sure it didn't hurt the fact that Vicky was working with the band because Vicky already had a good track record from working with Motley, Stryper, Poison, and I think even Metallica.

She seems to think that she is the one who introduced Axl to Slash while Slash was in Blacksheep in 1984 at the Music machine but the problem is the first time they met was after the a gig that Rose/Hollywood Rose played at Gazzarri's in the end May of 1984. Slash Steven and I went to that gig because Slash heard that there was a great singer and guitar player in this band called Rose that were playing that night. Slash and Steven joined Hollywood Rose right after the Gazzarri's gig in May of 1984 and that lineup fell apart after 3 months. Vicky could have been there that night but at the time Slash didn't know Vicky and he was still in Roadcrew. Slash didn't join Blacksheep until May of 1985 and only played 1 gig with them at the Country Club and it was at that gig where Axl Izzy and Duff asked Slash to come back in the band which was now called GNR.

Was this Bridgette?

Marc, do you feel you ever will have an opportunity at discussing with Vicky the Black Sheep confusion? (I do not think she is lying here or anything: she is just confused with her dates.) It is just, if she is writing her memoir, she will probably repeat the anecdote.
