So they are going to make a screen adaption of King's novel Cell. John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson are supposedly signed on. I didn't love the ending of the novel, but it's about zombies which are hot right now.

Some of King's movies work, some don't. Favorites? Which ones did the novels justice, which ones failed?

Am I the only one that kind of likes the TV-remake of The Shining?

I haven't seen the TV remake, but Kubrick's movie really did the novel justice.

He got the names and the location right, at least!

No, I actually prefer it because it's a lot closer to the novel than Kubrick's was.

The film, although great, did *very* little justice to the story of the book. Most of the famous bits of the film weren't in the book to being with (the two girls, blood in the elevator, hedge maze etc.)

I love Kubrick's version, but I fully enjoy the TV-remake to the same extent.

Cujo always freaked me out as a kid. IT never scared me too much, but I enjoyed it. Misery is a good one as well.

The Shawshank Redemption is a classic, but I can't always rewatch it. I prefer The Green Mile.

I always forget The Running Man is a King movie as well. Technically that might be my favorite, but in terms of story and a movie as whole, probably The Green Mile.

Secret Window was a crazy one as well when that came out, though I haven't seen it in a few years.

The Dead Zone. "The ice is gonna break!"

The best part of that film was absent from the novel: Martin Sheen's character turns the gun on himself after his political career is tarnished from using an infant as a human shield. Mr. King should be proud. That was quite the exclamation point.

I like The Shining for reasons unrelated to the novel. I like how the hotel's design is impossible and how furniture moves between shots.

It's been awhile since I saw it, one of my favorites, I'll have to pay more attention to the furniture next time, I missed that.

It, Pet Semetary, Misery, Stand by Me, Firestarter, Silver Bullet. The Stand is good but takes like 4 days to watch it.

Pet Semetary is creepy. I haven't seen either in a while, but I remember the second one was scarier as a kid.

A cinephile must accept all kind of betrayals if it serves the film well.

Kubrick's version is certainly better with his own inventions than if he had stayed closer to the source material. That was his way to do the novel justice. His film is immortal whereas other remakes will probably be forgotten.

But he didn't do the novel justice.

The Green MIle is my favourite and I think it's not a bad adaptation.

God. That movie made me cry so much. Michael Clarke Duncan was amazing and so sad.

I even cried when the mouse was so old he couldn't even walk. This movie was awesome. Such a change from SK's usual horror stuff.

Why do people always want film adaptations to be exactly like the book? Never understood that, I love it when a good director or screen writer isn't afraid to make it their own.

Anyway, I think The Mist is an insanely underrated movie and far more disturbing than it is ever given credit for.
