Really hope thus happens. ADKOT was amazing

Agreed. I love the SHIT out of that record. Anything and everything else they do has my attention.

Sucks we gotta wait 18 months, but I am interested in their new stuff. Hopefully Dave and the Van Halen brothers can get along.

Hopefully they play more of the next album live. They only played 5 songs off ADKOT, and even at that, Blood And Fire was only played 3 times.

I would have loved to have heard more of it live. I only saw them once on that tour and didn't get to hear Blood and Fire.

I added a third show last minute (Pittsburgh) specifically because they started playing Blood And Fire. Pittsburgh ended up being the last time they ever played Blood And Fire, so I really lucked out! :D It was amazing live, easily my favorite that they played off ADKOT.

They rehearsed much more of it, I know As Is, Honeybabysweetiedoll, and Beats Workin' for sure. I would've loved to see You And Your Blues, As Is, and Big River personally.

Wasn't ADKOT a compilation of old unused riffs? This album won't live up.

I didn't like ADKOT for that exact reason. It seemed like they took a bunch of songs that didn't make any albums in 78-84, and basically recorded them with a few changes. That's verifiable on some of the tracks which have unreleased/demo recordings. I liked a few of the songs, Outta Space, and a few others that I don't remember the names of. I'd much rather hear what VH 2013 original material would sound like rather than ten songs that for whatever reason never made an album.

We haven't heard a new Eddie riff/composition since VHIII (which should in now way be the template for this next album, nor am I worried of that since it's been over 15 years), I'd like to see what 2013 EVH riffs sound like. I know ADKOT got pretty good reviews and was well received by fans, but it seemed lazy, overproduced, and just not that good to me. I'll give it a re-listen to it in the next few days though, since this thread has sparked my interest.

So Dave is still in Van Halen?

Saw them live. They were good. Dave can't sing much anymore, but Eddie and Alex can still kick ass.

Dave could never really sing live though.

Actually, some of the songs were completely new on ADKOT. I don't know which ones exactly but I think Stay Frosty, Outta Space, and China Town were all new. And even if most songs used an old idea like a riff or two, all lyrics, solos, and most of the structures and ideas were new so it did show they are capable of great things in the future.

And even if a lot of it was old ideas, it worked. It is still 100% their music, is it really different from Axl releasing songs 10+ years old?

And it is a huge bummer they did not play more tracks from it live. I only got Tatoo, China Town, and The Trouble with Never at the shows I went to. I thought they were all great, but the show would have been a ton better if they added stuff like Blood And Fire, Big River, As Is, Stay Frosty, hell, any combination of more new tunes into the set.

Yeah, not all of ADKOT was from 78-84. There were plenty of parts that they had written when DLR was somewhat back in the band around the 2000-2001 mark. I believe As Is was written around this timeframe. That's just one of the examples. I believe China Town, Stay Frosty, and The Trouble With Never were completely new songs. I could be wrong that they're completely new, but they're not that old.

I'm not trying to prove you wrong or anything to make you like it haha. I'm just saying that while a chunk of them are older demos, I think there are a bunch of newer songs/newer demos on there also.

They didn't do She's The Woman at your gigs?

Speaking of She's The Woman, AFAIK that was the only song that was really a completed song in the old days (And even then it got new lyrics). According to setlist.fm, there was a song called Bullethead played live one time in 1977, but listening to the song on ADKOT, I doubt they have anything in common other than name. Otherwise, I haven't listened to all those early VH demos, but are there any old unreleased song where any riffs/licks/lyrics from ADKOT pop up? That's a legit question, I really don't know.
