stratus Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Towards the end of the "Bass Player Wanted" episode. The mom has a dialogue with Marshall which goes roughly as follows:- Mom sits at the hotel/wedding venue bar and says she "is out of their imaginary band"- Marshall responds "Fine. I will join the new Guns N' Roses which has way less drama".Again, not an exact match of a dialogue but "new Guns N' Roses" and the sarcastic comment on how play / hang out with them would involve less drama than "be in a band" with her was definitely said. It's clearly not the first time GNR is mentioned in HIMYM. See http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?/topic/169560-greatest-gnr-reference-on-how-i-met-your-mother/
username Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) Exact dialogue: The mother: *laugs at her singer getting punched by Ted* Her singer: "What, that's funny to you?! You know what? I quit. You can have your stupid band back. I miss being in a band where people are decent to each other and there's no drama. I'm going back to the new Guns n' Roses!" *storms off* (Marshal wasn't even in the segment) I laughed out loud. Edited December 18, 2013 by username
RichardNixon Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 This show is fucking terrible. Nice to see a GN'R reference though.
username Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 It's their second GnR reference. They made fun of Chinese Democracy in one episode as well. Also, I love this show.
jonah Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Also Had a group pic with slash in an episode. But teds gf was in the way so you could only see the hair/hat
IncitingChaos Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) Slash shows up at the bar in one episode (not the real one...I think) and a guy reads lily a poem entitled "November Rain by W. Axl Rose"Edit: Beaten to the Slash episode haha Edited December 18, 2013 by IncitingChaos
Anonymity Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I can remember of several GnR references in Californication too (Chinese Dem, Civil War etc)
Streetchild Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 One of the makers must be a real GNR fan, cause they have these jokes a lot.I loved the "new is Always better" theory.
username Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 He seems more of a classic GnR fan and not much of a new GnR fan.

Powerage5 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 He seems more of a classic GnR fan and not much of a new GnR fan. Don't forget Barney says Axl has really matured as a songwriter when him and Ted are talking about CD I love when they make GN'R jokes on HIMYM.
classicguns4life Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 So hopefully this brings everyone on here a little bit closer to seeing that this is how the rest of the world sees current GNR, if they ever think about the band at all.
luciusfunk Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 This show is fucking terrible. Nice to see a GN'R reference though. Calling How I Met Your Mother terrible while posting a clip from Family Guy? 2
dalsh327 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Who knows, maybe the show's writers probably lurk here.

The world loves Beyonce and vampire weekend too. Edited December 18, 2013 by RichardNixon

Mr. Dude Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) Lol- at the guy who said How I Met Your Mother is a good representation of public opinion. Wait, isn't/wasn't that show a big hit? Nevermind, lol @ public opinion. Edited December 18, 2013 by Mr. Dude 1

Nevermind, lol @ public opinion. If anything, it's a good representation of how one writer on one sitcom feels about CD.
Powerage5 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Sorry about the duplicate thread this morning, I didn't check here first because I never imagined it would ever be considered D&N worthy. The show is actually fairly good, I think it's a funnier version of Friends. And I've always had a thing for Alyson Hannigan, going all the way back to her Buffy days.Alyson has been looking fiiine this season.
Mysteron Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 It was an ok show, HIMYM.There were lots of cultural references each episode. It is cool they included GN'R a few times

Nosaj Thing Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Family Guy is terrible, worst piece of shit I have seen in my life.
RichardNixon Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Family Guy is terrible, worst piece of shit I have seen in my life.Family Guy is hilarious, clever and well written. In 20 years people will still be watching it while HIMYM will be long forgotten along the likes of other shows such as Just the Ten of Us.

For some reason I've had a weakness for her ever since Buffy. 1
