Use Your Delusion 1
A couple spring to mind, for this years oscars Tommy Lee Jones should've had best Supporting ActorControversial but I think Master & Commander should have won over Lord of the Rings in 2003, the last Lord of the Rings is the worst. Neil Young, not Bruce Springsteen should have won best song from the film Philadelphia (both nominations were from the same film but young's was better, just not so much of a big name, his performance at the ceremony was amazing)JFK should have beat Silence of the LambsAny ones that bug you? Guest Len B'stard
I've never kept up to be honest, i dunno what got Oscars, what didn't.
MEXzilla
Saving Private Ryan over everything that was nominated that year(1998). I felt Hugo(director) or Midnight in Paris(best picture, actor, script) should have won something instead the borefest of The Artist won. Angelica
Virtually anything should've won instead of The Artist, The King's Speech, Slumdog Millionaire, Crash, Return of the King, Shakespeare in Love. Titanic winning BP over L.A. Confidential...yeah, well done there guys. Fargo losing to English Patient. Sandra fucking Bullock. Al Pacino winning for his hysterical hamming in Scent of a Woman, especially as he was up against Denzel's Malcolm X performance. The list is endless. OmarBradley
JFK should have beat Silence of the LambsDidn't see Silence of the Lambs. Saw 45 minutes of JFK before I had to shut it off, utter garbage. Stone's film-making (Platoon, Nixon, Wall Street, Alexander, and JFK of course) is dry, boring, and often historically inaccurate. The second half of NBK wasn't bad, but it isn't the great movie people claim it is. Overall, I think Stone is incredibly overrated.Joaquin Pheonix, three times, for Gladiator (supporting actor), Johhny Cash and The Master.Certainly for at least Gladiator.Chastain for Best ActressAs much is I like Waltz, TLJ for Thaddeus Stevens.Best Picture and Director: Basterds over Hurt Locker in both categories. There Will Be Blood > No Country for Old MenAlthough The Departed was great, director should have gone to Eastwood for Letters.Gangs of New York > ChicagoAs mentioned previously in this thread, Saving Private Ryan for BP.LOTR deserved everything it got. J Dog
Gangs of NY and Goodfellas. Scorsese should have won way before Departed.Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone for best supporting actor. I don't have a clue who won it that year and don't care, Val killed it.And it wasn't really an oscar type movie, but Tony Montana is one of the best performances ever. I don't even think Al got nominated. Edited December 18, 2013 by J Dog
Guest NGOG
Gangs of NY Come on, by Scorsese' high standards, that film was average. Definitely not worthy of Oscar recognition.JFK is very enjoyable - and could never have won given its highly-charged statement - but there's no way it's as good as Silence of the Lambs.
