Who's your least favorite member of GNR?

Not at all, especially shitty generic Bond soundtracks that sound like rejected porn soundtracks. Not a fan of a guitarist in a 3 guitarist band that can't hold his own against the other 2 either, but that should be readily apparent as well. :shrugs:

Honestly, I hate those Bond soundtracks myself. I do like If The World though. Doesn't really sound like Gn'R, but there are a few songs on Chinese that tried to take a new direction (for Gn'R) Not one of my favorites, but that Bucket solo kicks fucking ass.

It's not just holding your own 'against' 2 other guitarists, it's also bringing a unique style that only you can inject to the sound and that's where Finck delivered. Technically, Bumble can do pretty much anything as a guitarist, but he doesn't have the ability to do what Finck did or write in that style.

Why do you think Axl didn't just go with Fortus and Bumble when Robin left? He understands the value of different styles and approaches, on top of the obvious advantage of having 3 guitars live in order to achieve a fuller sound. It can be a fucking mess at times too tough.

I don't feel that passionately about Ashba one way or the other. I preferred Robin by a long shot, but DJ seems to fit the bill more so than Ron.

Honestly I think the core root of the reason that people hate on DJ is the top hat.

It's much bigger then just the top hat. It's the haircut.

I'm not a fan of his style at all either. His solos are the weakest on the album as far as I'm concerned. His image was even worse than his playing, so DJ was the only suitable replacement for him. I actually like DJ's Better more than the album version, which is saying something because I don't particularly care for DJ's. Guns never needed 3 guitarists to begin with, and they still don't now.

Interesting. I think they didn't need 3 guitarists when they had Slash. Hard to replace someone with that talent, at least in his prime.

Actually, I don't think they needed 3 when they had Bucket as well. (but I'm glad we got the Finck/Bucket combo)

Your other points were valid. I guess a lot of what we're talking about here is just a matter of opinion and taste.

but its mostly the top hat. Robin had a much worse/at least as bad a hairstyle (which I guess bad hairstyles was pretty universal amongst the entire band then) in 2001-2002, but didn't get nearly the hate.

Yes he did lol. Where were you? 'freak' was a popular word around here for 2001-2002 Finck.

With Ashba, it's not just one thing. He has the douche factor. Can't quite explain it, but it's so powerful.

Just waiting for this band to do something before I can judge who sucks worse. I don't think I'll ever get an answer though. :shrugs:

Nothing personal but 100% Ron -- Yay he's nice to his fans, great! just doesn't fit in GNR imo, never has, never will.

I have a strange thing between him and Ashba. Ron is the only member of the band who is completely open about what the situation is. He is there to play guns n roses songs for money. Nothing wrong with that. But unfortunately he also makes it so obvious that he doesn't like it, or at least the music. It's kind of tough to watch the guy play when he doesn't seem to care.

On the flipside, sometimes it seems Ashba cares more that anyone in the history of the band short of Adler. However they both share the interest of being a rock star before the music. The problems with Ashba have been long documented, bragging about fighting fans while fighting bullying, guitar sucking, "shameless self promotion," but one of the most cringe worthy things is how it seems rock stardom comes before music. Everything he does seems disingenuous.

So basically the same issue is at heart. If they do care about gn'rs music, they have a funny way of showing it.

I think Ron cares but he speaks his mind and says what his really thinking that's the difference between him and the others

Axl, of course.

Seriously. The original five - or at least the original four and Sorum - should still be together. They should've been the fucking Stones, or Crue. He ruined it.

Also DJ - as someone upthread said, to look at him is to cringe.

Looking at DJ cures hiccups.

Love or hate the guy Adler is the definitive GNR drummer and only Brain has come close (Freese gets a pass cause we don't really know)...as much of a fuck up as Stevie is, he has arguably aged the best of the five (besides the stroke)

Sorum was/is? just a really mundane, generic drummer...Tokyo UYI drum solo says it all, just lame.

Matt Sorum, no question. He called me satan :max:

He probably just couldn't spell Izzy Stradlin

Dizzy. Has been Axl's lap dog since the early 90s and has no balls to make his own decisions whatsoever. His contributions are also minimal. Tommy is a very close second with his "get on board or fuck off" comment. All a bunch of Axl kiss asses.
