arnold layne
I agree. I am more interested in giving gifts. I gave my mother a McMuffin machine thing, my brother a board game to play with his college buddies and I have my dad a car maintenance kit with a gift card to an Italian restaurant. Guest Len B'stard
...is the worst thread, yet we get one every year. Can we stay away from this back-patting and circlejerking, just for one year and instead give thought to those less fortunate?I'm less fortunate, i'm muslim, i don't get a Christmas, can Purple Santa come and squat me and grip my puny spaghetti arms til the muscular strain makes me climax, similar to the explanation of the pump outlined by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the seminal (pun intended) bodybuilding film, Pumping Iron. Perhaps we could film the entire incident reality documentary style, the first half an hour being a film of the oppressive muslim lifestyle, perhaps we can coerce my father into perhaps beating a member of my family, preferably female, to within an inch of her life, then a few maudlin miserable minutes of film of me in my room, bereft of the trapping and trinkets and glistening glittering baubles of Christmas, peering out my window like Rapunzel at the houses across the way, lit up by fairy lights with a view through their patio door peering into a Christmas scene with turkey and a Christmas Tree and kids sitting by it watching the clock tick to 12 so they can hurriedly unwrap their gifts, Grandpa by the fire taking pulls on his pipe, taking in his rough shag, while i weep softly from my window.Until at 12 O clock, there's a rustling downstairs, something big and purple comes down the chimney and my bedroom door shortly creaks open...The conclusion could be the two of us sharing a spliff together on a weights bench with matching T shirts that read 'Aki Is Numero Uno!' And don't worry about the gear, we can go twos on mine, after all it is the season of good will Here, we could call it Pumping Irons! Orsys
My brothers will get ice wine. My Mom, candles and perfume. My son will get cash, clothes and an iPhone.I donate to the Women's Shelter and my favourite part of Christmas is the meal when everyone says who they donated to and why. Ace Nova
I gave all that I could this Christmas....not much, unfortunately.... My new job is extremely seasonal....as in, I make more money during the busy travel seasons....I've actually earned more money in the past few weeks than I did the previous two months combined. Unfortunately, I won't get paid on my earnings until January....so I'm as broke as I've been in years. I was able to buy my son an annual pass to Sea World...and a few gifts for immediate family members. This is way out of my element. I usually buy dozens of gifts for family and some friends....and this year, I couldn't...so I'm a little bummed about it. As far as charities go, I like to keep that private....but yes, I also gave what I could. Edited December 24, 2013 by Kasanova King
Gracii Guns
Well KK, you've done a brilliant job of spreading the festive spirit on here, I'm sure that you can do the same with your family. Gifts are soon forgotten, but memories last a lifetime.
Lithium
I got cologne, workout clothes and money. My biggest treat this Christmas, however, was seeing the look on my nephew's face when he opened up the present I got for him and exclaimed that it was the best present he got. He really wanted this Mario game for his Nintendo 3DS, so I got it for him, but I told him that I had gotten him socks instead, which is what I imagined must be the shittiest gift you can give a 6 year old. The look of surprise and joy on his face and the hug he gave me was priceless.

Absolute champion! This year, I've basically bought my own gifts: mostly some Star Wars X-Wing stuff (cool, I know!), a few other things I needed like Superglue, a couple of games - but that's pretty much it. I spent a fair amount on the missus (naturally!) and am totally stoked to open her presents tomorrow, in addition to seeing her reaction to hers. Otherwise, hopefully a bit of money/smellies as appropriate!
