This looks like it has the potential to be a huge bomb. Like, Battlefield Earth-style bomb.

The Wachowskis haven't had a hit since The Matrix. The sequels made money, but fans hated them. All their movies since have lost studios a lot of money, and been met with divisive response. I think it's time for them to hang it up, tbh. They're continually chasing their next Matrix and the more films they make, the more apparent it becomes they've lost the plot, the high-school-drop-out, sci-fi equivalents of M. Night Shyamalan.

They probably should get back to making something like Bound instead of a sci-fi flick. I got tired of all things Matrix symbolism pretty fast.

I still haven't seen Cloud Atlas. The only thing I paid attention to was Lana in the interviews with the Raggedy Ann hair.

Saw Cloud Atlas on cable last week......it was o.k but I found myself asking "is that it?" when it was over............

Yeah, Bound was actually a very good film. In fact, tbh, I prefer it over The Matrix, which I like, but always found to be very overrated. I don't think it's aged particularly well, either (this is purely anecdotal but it certainly seems like people don't talk about it or reference it nearly as much as they used to, nor as much as other seminal action/special effects films like Terminator 2).

I like the Matrix sequels, or at least the main plot with Neo. If they'd cut out a lot of the poorly written sideplot/poorly acted supporting characters and focused on that main story in a single 2 and a half hour movie (fights and car chases could have been cut in half as well to make them cool instead of drawn out), I think we would have had a worthy sequel to The Matrix.

I LOVE Speed Racer. Saw it twice in the cinema. Not a fan of the anime or anything, just thought it was a really well-made film.

Tried watching Cloud Atlas at home, couldn't make it past 15 mins.

This looks poop, but I'll still give it a shot.

was Cloud Atlas good? from what i heard it seemed like a frustrating film that had moments of genius but also laughably bad moments.

i always thought these guys (err, guy and gal now, i guess) were pretty overrated. 'Bound' was awesome... 'The Matrix,' as much as I enjoyed it, wasn't quite the brilliant and flawless picture some would have you believe (i remember the hype kinda killed it for me back in the day), and the sequels were so increasingly bad that they kind of left a bad aftertaste for the whole franchise.

then came speed racer, etc. enough said.

i think they had some energy and passion early in their career but once the studios started throwing too much money at them, they began letting their productions and ideas run rampant. in effect, too many yes-men.

It's not a bad movie, the concept is interesting but ultimately it was too ambitious to pull off. I'd need to watch it again, the Wachowskis only did the future segment I believe, and Perfume/Lola Rennt's Tykwer was heavily involved as well. Truth be told, I haven't liked anything the Wachowski's did after the first Matrix, including V for Vendetta.
