I love his acting. Anyone a fan?

I got hooked on his work from his debut in Primal Fear. That is a great performance. He has been in many movies that I like and some that I love.

His movies that I absolutely love are American History X, 25th Hour (i consider this a must watch), Fight Club, The Painted Veil, and Leaves of Grass in which he plays twins. And Moonrise Kingdom.

Movies that I like are The Score, Red Dragon, The Italian Job, Down in the Valley, The Illusionist, Pride and Glory and Stone.

What do you guys think?

Down in the Valley is very underrated.

He's also great in Everyone Says I Love You, Rounders, The People vs Larry Flynt and Keeping the Faith

Is Stone the one with Milla Jovovich and DeNiro?

Yes, that is Stone.

Those other movies are great too. He has a lot and I felt like i could only put so many in my OP. :)

He was brilliant along with Edward Furlong in American History X. He is a really talented actor and because he doesn't seek out the limelight he has been considerable underrated.

Has he won an Oscar yet? If not, it would be a travesty if he wasn't acknowledged soon.

Fight Club, American History X, The 11th Hour, Rounders, The Score, even liked his Hulk movie, was he in The Prestige?

The Illusionist then I think. To me he seems like a chracter actor more than a leading man.

No, main roles were played by Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman.

He has not won an Oscar. He did receive two Oscar nominations, one for Primal Fear and one for American History X. He did win the Golden Globe for Primal Fear.

I agree that he is not a "movie star" in the traditional sense and is definitely underrated.

Hes meant to be a bit of an actor/writer director. Like every movie he rewrites the script. Like dennis hopper he just takes over. But good results. 11th hour is timeless.

Agree. I have heard the stories about the rewrites, especially the fight over American History X.

Everyone should watch 25th Hour. It has outstanding performances from Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Barry Pepper, Rosario Dawson and Anna Paquin. That movie is in my top ten of all time.

He's okay, nothing special.

Strongly disagree.

He was understandably held in many regards as 'the next De Niro' early on in his career as a rising method actor (which was why the big team up of him, De Niro and Brando in The Score was so exciting and promising), but he somewhat ruined his career with his diva behavior. He burned a whole lot of bridges, one of the biggest examples being his nonstop temper tantrum on the set of The Italian Job remake, which is part of the reason his career took a noticeable nosedive after that film. The Incredible Hulk was probably his final straw -- he made slight changes to the screenplay (mainly dialogue) and then tried to claim sole credit for the entire script. He wasn't given sole credit so then he sulked and refused to do promotional materials for the movie (that's why he didn't do any interviews for it before release). That's part of the reason the movie didn't do better at the box office and a big part of the reason why Marvel refused to re-hire him for The Avengers and re-cast the role.
