Bands or artists you tried getting into but it just didn't click

For me?? Led Zep. I still have their Greatest Hits on my iPod, but I remember buying all the albums a few years back to see what all the fuss was about, and they just never really did it for me. I like a few tracks here and there, such as Black Dog and When The Levee Breaks, but I could never get into a whole album.

Iron Maiden as well. I got Number of the Beast and another album (title escapes me) and it just didn't resonate.

Another one for me is Pink Floyd. Just don't get the appeal at all. All their music sounds pretentious to me.

Radiohead - I liked The Bends but mostly everything else just completely falls flat for me. I find that a lot of their instrumentation is actually very cool, but Thom Yorke ruins so much of their stuff for me. Half the time it's as if he's singing over a completely different track. He just has no ear for vocal melodies from what I can tell.

The Band - I love a lot of rootsy americana/folk type rock music, but I can't get into The Band who seem to be among the most celebrated bands who did that kind of thing. I love a handful of songs, but it's a bit of a struggle to get through entire albums with them. I'm hoping they "click" with me one of these times, which has happened time and time again.

Led Zeppelin - I'm mostly just throwing them in here because everyone else has so far. I like a pretty good number of their songs, but I find almost just as much completely forgettable. Specifically, I find Led Zeppelin II and the fourth album to be pretty boring with a lot of throwaways.

Rush - I just don't really see the appeal. Horrible lyrics and terrible singing. The instrumentation is technically good though, I suppose. Doesn't work for me, though.

I'm sure there are plenty of others I could list, but whatever.

Every single word of this post is directly applicable to me also :)

Queen

Metal in general as a genre, tried Pantera, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, lord knows I tried but it's just, well, bollocks quite frankly.

Pink Floyd as mentioned, awful, just awful

Bruce Springsteen, trite and patronising and third rate, it's like nostaligia for past nostalgia, utterly without depth

Prog Rock in general, fuckin' unlistenable most of it.

I like The Bends and OK Computer, and a few other songs here and there.

With lenny on Sepultura and Pantera, really don't see the appeal, tried a few times. Saw Slayer open for Maiden, god they were boring (though tbf their guitarist is dead).

I've tried listening to Good Kid, M.A.A.D City a few times, just can't get into it. I like Kendrick enough when he guests with other artists, though, like Mayer Hawthorne.

Tried listening to Haim back in 2012, couldn't get into them. Listened to them again a few months ago, love them now!

Plenty. I don't like at least 98% of the music I hear. Not necessary actively dislike but I wouldn't go ahead and listen to it a second time.

But the one band that I've tried getting into several times and never been able to is The Beatles. I like several songs but the bulk of it ranges from boring to annoying. For the most part it's the vocals that kill it for me.

I don't really like most songs of the Rolling Stones, I feel like most hasn't stood the test of time in terms of sounds. It feels so stripped down, bland and boring. Mick Jagger strikes me as a bit of a pretentious twat. If I had to say something positive, I had to say that I actually do like Tattoo You and a couple of songs in the same vein.

I like the Doors, but I do think Jim Morrison was a bit of an arrogant phony and probably the first hipster. Nothing but respect for Manzarek tho.

Don't understand the hype with Nirvana either. I mean, their music was all right (albeit very simple), but Cobain strikes me as a bit of a foul-mouthed hyprocrite (for example, he started being an ass to Axl, while he was originally a Nirvana fan) and I think it was very selfish to choose the easy way out by commiting suicide, especially considering he left behind a daughter and a wife helplessly.

Don't really like the Foo Fighters too and can't understand why Dave Grohl is regarded as some saint by the internet either. I find him to be very unfunny.

Don't like listening to Hendrix either, but that could be because his albums are just very old.
