Silent Jay
Very pleased with the surprises pulled out at the last show. I hope that if the band doesn't dust off any more songs they at least continue playing "Prostitute". That song needs more love. Also, probably alone on this, but, next tour: "Riad N' the Bedouins" or 'nilla "Oh My God"? That would be so kick ass.Oh My God is definitely too much, I can't imagine how much people here will go crazy, or full retard.
combos
The pain and perversion parts were impressive. To think that he could probably pull performances like this off on a regular basis, if he sang and was in shape off tour. It was still great. I'll take what I can get. Axl's not done yet. Here is the part I don't understand. Axl has talked about how important it is to give the fans, and ticket holders a great performance. Yet, he's completely out of shape and as far as I can tell, doesn't seem to want to get INTO shape. Why?It seems absolutely hypocritical to me. If someone cared about putting on the best show possible, wouldn't they (especially at his age) make sure they were in top physical condition?Maybe he doesn't share your opinion that his physical appearance is part of the performance?I'm not talking about his "appearance." The man can look however he wants. I'm talking about his performance (movement, energy, running around etc. not singing). There is a direct link between being in great shape and endurance. Any idiot with half a brain knows that. I mean, just look at how great of a show Fortus puts on. The reason he can throw so much energy into each show is because he's in outstanding physical condition.I don't CARE what Axl does. It's his life and you won't hear me bitch. I'm just wondering why he says and does two different things. He's ALWAYS talked about putting on great shows and how important it is to him, yet he doesn't stay in shape anymore. It's weird. Rovim
The point is, that he didn't lose the ability to sing like that. He can still give performances like that Prostitute clip on a regular basis.Vocal chords are essentially muscles, so you always have to sing. Everyday. Do warm ups and warm downs. If you don't move when you sing, getting in shape is not as crucial. (opera singers are fat fucks in many cases)But Axl is running around or walking on stage. Always moving, and with his style of singing it would help him a lot if he was in shape. Edited June 6, 2014 by Rovim

SoulMonster
But Axl is running around or walking on stage. Always moving, and with his style of singing it would help him a lot if he was in shape. He is not by far as active as he used to be in the 90s. Perhaps he thinks he can move around as much as he does today and still give great performances? I certainly don't hear him gasping much for breath recently. Of course he could stand completely still and probably win some sustain and control, but that would mean he lost some of his performance, because you have to move at least a bit. So I guess it is a compromise. Perhaps he could exercise more to be able to be more active on stage (although he might not feel that improves his performance), or to improve the vocals (although he might think that improving his condition might not make much improvement on his vocals). I don't know. Maybe he believes he would do better shows if he was in better shape, but just can't make the effort to exercise more because small improvements in his voice wouldn't make much of a difference to most people in the audience who aren't there just to listen to his voice out of all the sounds the band makes and in addition don't obsess that much over it if it was only 85 % compared to 90 % out of 100 %), or because he is just too lazy to bother. I think it is wrong to jump to conclusions either way. People are making way too much focus on his physical condition and are simply drawing very shaky conclusions regarding the correlation between his weight and his vocals. I am not saying there isn't a link there, just that is seems to be very exaggerated. As with most cases I think reality is more complex.
SoulMonster
Some additional thoughts: Maybe he thought it was right to run around when young but doesn't want to become the next Iggy Pop, or has realized he can't physically become that person who is cool at 50 acting like you're 20? Perhaps he just wants to stand still and rock the van Morrison now and thinks that is the coolest performance he can given given his age? Who knows. FoxySCFC
Amazing performance, just when we all think that Axl is out of suprises he pulls that out of the bag. I loved the part where his mic stand is hit in sync with the beats of the drum like hes really into it.His voice was amazing and the crowd seemed to love it, just giving the fans something new really does get them excited. Also seeing bumblefoot tear it up on the guitar makes you realise what a great guitarist this guy is and criminally under used, but than gain thats just the story of guns n roses all over it isnt it. Also I cant understand the bad rep this song seems to have its one of my favourite Guns songs, even when it first leaked i couldnt stop listening to it.Axl stop starving the fans, play these songs, play new songs its why we visit these boards day in day out hoping for something new! Bono
Prostitute could've been a huge hit if the drums weren't so shitty and if it had a proper guitar solo to compliment the song. This was a pretty good performance. It isn't mind blowing but Axl is definitely better here for sure. I think the reaction by many is a massive overreaction based on the surprise factor though. It's a good performance but "God Fucking Damn" and "Just spectacular" ??? I don't know. I'd say pretty good.Flame away now haha
Crash Diet
Agree with Broski's sentiments, although Prostitute isn't really my cup of tea from CDAxl finally nails this song live and yes he was so in to it that i rarely seen since 2010

Nulla Lex Ink.
dexter the fucking pug Yeah, named after the TV show... Obviously... Jesus, it all makes sense to me now.Axl, a fan of the show Dexter, has been doing so horribly because he's still reeling from how god awful its last years were. But he's finally getting over it, hence the better performance and interest in making another album. God, it's so obvious! If only I had known. I would have invited him to the support group. Glad to see he's making progress in the therapy he undoubtedly needed. He's admitted to himself that the show is dead, and he's made the first step to move on. That's the hardest step, and I'm proud of him for making it.But back on topic, when was the last time Prostitute was performed before this anyways? I know it's only been played a handful of times, including the other night's performance.

It's definitely one of his better performances in a while. I'm just not super blown away by it. You can definitely tell he's going for it though as are the guys in the band. Unlike Yesterdays. I know a lot thought that was awesome too. I thought it was just ok. Cool they played it but came off like a band(singer and band) going through the motions to me.Others are talking about Axl's physicality on stage. I think it's way better if at this stage of his career he stays put in one spot for the most part. He doesn't really go anywhere in this Prostitute performance and it's one of his best one off songs in a while so.... he's not the athlete Jager or Tyler are anymore so he should focus on delivering with his voice and not worry about being the Axl of old when it comes to mileage on stage. I think his performances would benefit from that.Prostitute to me is the one song on CD that had huge potential to be a huge hit and a genuine epic song. Its' the one song I wish the old band had done cause I think it'd really benefit from a "stripped down" Illusions type arrangement with some proper Slash influence. There's a few songs on CD I think suck, some that are barely ok, some that are good, some that are pretty good but Prostitute for me is the only one that shows true moments of greatness. Something is still missing in it though for me. Edited June 6, 2014 by Bono
NachoLZ
Yesterdays was awesome considering it was the first one in many years, not like Estranged in Rio but 3 days later in Chile he nailed it, Prostitute, nothing to say, perfect performance even after 5 years of not playing it

Russel Nash
All this recent recognition in the media/awards/magazines got to give him confidence to do anything. The fact that he performed Marseilles is even more impressive to me, it was like an open rehearsal with Axl on vocals. We don't get to see that everyday.

RandallFlagg
Too epic a song to be ignored so much, too great a voice when he finds it again to waste doing the same tour, amazing to see the guy singing a 'recent' song with that fire n' ice.
