NachoLZ
It's when ur mind is awake and your body is sleeping, you are in a state in between wakefulness and sleeping, if you get afraid, you will get nightmares mixed with the reality in which you can feel an entity sitting on you, you have your eyes open but cant move or scream.Last night I had one of these, I felt someone over me grabbing me with his/it arms, I got desesperate and eventually I could move again, its very scary, have some of you experienced it? Broskirose
I get it all the time. There's different types and I've experienced tons of them. The regular is where you wake up, open your eyes but you just can't move. That's nothing. The freaky ones where you open your eyes and see crazy shit, or get stuck in a nightmare feeling like you can't breathe or your body is being shaken are crazy. But I kind of know it's happening now so you just kind of wait it out. I seem to get it whenever I'm physically exhausted. This is why people think they're abducted by aliens, or demons exist. Take a Christian, add sleep paralysis and you've got a 99% chance of him being a total satan fearing loser his whole life. santana
It happens to me every once in a while.Do you get weird shit happening in your room and bed?No, never any weird shit. I'll wake up suddenly, be unable to move for a few minutes, then it all stops. Never any strange lights or sensations or "presences" or anything like that. RandallFlagg
Hypnagogia or something is a related condition, where the mind is transitioning but all the physical processes are in catch-up mode. I am more or less a chronic insomniac all my life but I have modern medicine to help out these days, I used to receive this disturbing little event quite often, especially thru childhood, I remember vividly seeing a fucking orc from Moria burst out of my cupboard one ''morning'' life-like and leering, then I woke up, which turned out to be a false awakening, another common association with SP, then some goddamn demon thing laughed from the corner of the room, I switched the light on, what I used to do to wake from lucid dreams, only for it to go dark and switch to me 'back in bed' where I'd 'always been' and me realize I was staying around whilst the paralysis continued lol. Then I woke for real (I think) about ten horrific seconds later. Like I say I rarely get it now cause I get enough sleep eventually but when I used to work and go college without sleep it caught up on me often. RandallFlagg
The impending doom feeling has no comparison apart from a psychedelic trip going south, it's such a vulnerable and awkward state of mind to be trapped in, meditation and lucid dreaming helps alleviate and manipulate the situation but you can do precious little to alter the course if you can't help freaking out when you're thrust into such a state and used to believing you got full control on existence. MB.
I mostly have that, when I fall a sleep during the day and sleep too long. The best way is to relax and try to fall in a 'normal' sleep again. It's pretty annoying though.
RandallFlagg
One of the wonderful tales is that a malevolent entity called ''the old hag'' is enjoying sitting on your chest and observing you struggle, try not to let that creep into your mind next time. Really it's just the brain/body delay in sync but it's far more romantic to align some creepy ass paranormal origin to the phenomena. sweetness
I've had it a few times, first time it happened to me I had done plenty of reading about it so as much as it scared the shit out of me I figured it out alfway through and clamed down easily.I was in Detroit on business sleeping in my hotel room after a night out drinking with co-workers, I had some sort of nightmare and awoke to the sound and feeling of a small, yet heavy dog sitting on my chest making growling sounds and shit, and I couldn't move at all. I could see it getting closer to my head, it was white, then it disapeared. There was a mirror on the wall at the end of the bed, and in the mirror was a figure that looked like Tom Waits with a guitar floating in mid air laughing hysterically at me. Then it was over and I sat up.If I hadn't know about sleep paralysis was I probably would have bolted the fuck out of that room.
Haters Gonna Hate
That has to be so scary if you never had it before and don't know what it is.
The Real McCoy
I've had it happen twice. Saw some robed shadow creatures near my bed the first time that it happened. Freaky stuff.
AdriftatSea
I've had these dreams and would get cramps in my legs and couldn't move. Very scary.Have you had dreams of flying too? The good dreams?
pestilence
for me it felt like electricty was flowing through my body, and i'd finally force myself to move.....heard voices, never anything visual...scary though
TeeJay410
I've had sleep paralysis but no weirdness. My mind is aware but I can't move. I can hear and see what's going on in the room but I can't quite move. My girlfriend will say something to me and I can't respond. She used to get mad until she realized what it was.I also sleepwalk a fair amount. I never do anything crazy. One time I started doing dishes. One time I went outside, thankfully it was freezing and raining so it woke me up. Scariest was I woke up and my apartment door was open. Nothing was stolen or anything, so I assumed I slept walk. A neighbor later than day asked if I was okay because I was acting really weird that night, and that's when I realized evidently I went to say hello or something and didn't close the door when I got back! Forsaken
I used to have it a lot when I was a kid. Wake up in your sleep and you can't move your body... terrifying at first but you know how to handle it after awhile.
TeeJay410
I have false awakenings in my dream constantly. It's rare I have a dream where I don't wake up in bed at some point and then more craziness happens.
