Brainstorming a Bumble replacement

Recommended Posts

What you guys said.

Does anybody really want the current day Zakk Wylde with GNR? He's almost as bad as Ashba these days.

I would never have associated guys like Aldrich ( classic 80's metal fill in) with GNR- is Steve Harris going to join as the bass player?

Besides, does New gnr really offer that much money compared to the money some of the names earn already. Frusciante could rejoin RHCP and make far more money playing his own music with a degree of artistic integrity, than he could playing Slash's solos in casinos. Zakk can make far more money with Ozzy. Clapton I am sure makes far more money playing 24 nights in front of wealthy middle class Londoners, than he would playing to white trash Vegas and tacky tourists.

Which competent guitarist would want to line up alongside Ashba? Let's say you were a more than capable player who was between bands and had no projects lined up for the foreseeable future, you look at GNR and think hmm but what have they done lately? The money's great, touring is endless due to the brand name and Axl association with the past, Ashba is a bit of a downer as a guy to play off and put up with his baggage, Fortus seems cool damn Bowie wanted him, Stinson is a punk legend, Frank... seems solid enough but know little about him, BBF and Buckethead shoes to fill with the obvious weight of Sluffizzy, no sign of new music, a few set changes in 4 years, all of them backwards regression, weird ass management situation, Axl's form comes and goes... what are my creative options? Record a solo over the phone here and there whilst Axl tinkers, comes out of hibernation for tours and says we'll jam one night and never do, back into hibernation, sends a document explaining the vision of the potential new record that we're gonna record after the next tour, then the next tour, then the next guitarist as Fortus jumps ship, Ashba starts introducing folk dressed as stitched up skeletons as backing singers... the carnival goes on... and you're bound and nailed to the mast via a faustian contract.

fair enough, clapton is laughable i'll give you that. and some of these other suggestions probably wouldn't fly, do you have a suggestion? gnr should just call it a day cause bumble's leaving? if they just kept going with mr ashba only on lead, that would be unacceptable.

As I suggested above: Keri Kelli, Brent Muscat, Lonny Paul - at best, Ryan Roxie or Bruce Kullick.

I missed that post.... on another note

too bad bands aren't like football teams where we could draft somebody new or trade dj to a different team lol

Tracii Guns? Reunion! Tracii does not seem to be doing that much lately except for 'Guns N' Roses tribute' and Gilby Carke solo albums. Or, Gilby himself - granted, he cannot shred and Axl seemed to have something against Gilby for some odd reason in the '90s.

You know if the news is true; GNR are considering replacements for him. Who could pull it off and is available?

Just bring it back to two guitarists. Replace Ron with a proper guitarists and replace DJ with a mic stand or a stage light or something.

Tracii Guns coming back would wet the underwear of at least 4 GN'R nutters I know. It would be the last real true gnr reunion. Even though he contributed near nothing some people seem to like him a lot and give him lots of credit for being in GN'R. I'd prefer sl-sh coming back since he was actually important.

The ship containing Slash has well and truly sailed and is in fact sunk in the middle of the Pacific, and, I do not know why people are mentioning Izzy considering Izzy gets jittery about, even the slightest notion of commitment. Axl also will also probably want a shredder considering that slot has included two successive shredders - it is probably for the Democracy stodge - with silly sounding nicknames.

In my opinion:

1. Option: Slash (impossible) or Izzy (classic gnr members)

2. Option: Tracii Guns or Gilby Clarke (former gunners)

3. Option. Duff is a good guitarrist.

4. Option. Fortus and Ashba, only 2 guitars.

5. Option a Hard Rock guitar player, Nuno Bettencourt, Doug Aldrich, Richie Sambora, Bruce Kulick, Bob Kulick, Michael Schenker, Kee Marcello or George Lynch.

He could write lyrics to and record vocals over material written by all post-1998 GNR band members and still probably have 2 or 3 albums. Not just talking about the CD sessions, but material/ideas submitted/written by individual band members for GNR on their downtime throughout the years.
