Niven completely fucked up by pissing off Axl, it sounds like he tried to fire him but I doubt anyone can be that stupid.

I think Niven joins the great proportion of people who have, ever come into contact with Axl then; and a fairly illustrious crowd, containing as it does, just about every former member of Guns N' Roses!

Yeah but they are in the band,

Mick Wall, Doug Goldstein, Merck, Irving Azoff, Bob Ezrin, Roy Thomas Baker, Tom Zutaut, ehh, Dr Pepper and Guitar Hero, the entire city of St Louis: everybody who comes into contact with W. Axl Rose, pisses him off eventually, unless, they are willing to be over and take it up the arse a la Dizzy Reed. The reason is, Axl possesses the mental age of a toddler.

Axl isn't some kind of uber douche tyrannical monster,

''Uber douche tyrannical monster'' could be Axl's middle name - or names should I say.

No he doesn't, sometimes he gets pissed off. It's rock n roll there's a these egotistical guys fighting over shit. But 20 years later only Niven is that bothered about these things. They just can't face it that Axl was the main ingredient that made GNR what it was. For reason they wanted stamp on anything he wanted to do. I just don't see where they are coming from. I guess it's just two different styles crossing. I just can't see why they can't see that and just let it go. Axl isn't some kind of uber douche tyrannical monster, he just likes Elton and Queen. If you want to be the manager resolve the differences in the band. Niven failed and got fired. He didn't even want to work with Axl, he went and managed Izzy so what's the problem. He acts like Axl stole something from him. We all know that without Axl, the Izzy n Slash material wasn't going to sell 35 mil like UYI right? Okay Axl didn't do exactly what they wanted but he did enough for them to sell a shitload of records. I just don't see what the big problem is.

The way I look at it is none of those guys get rich or famous without Axl. Maybe Niven is a blip on the radar with Great White. Which is another thing- Niven had problems with Russell too. If it was all Axl's fault, what about Niven's other relationships. He pissed Slash off too on a personal level. Slash had as many bad things to say about him as he did good. But without Axl- where would these guys be. Mick Wall? His career certainly benefited from his association and subsequent dissasociation from Axl. Slash? Touring member of Kiss. Izzy? Him and Axl were a package deal, but Iz didn't know, didn't care, didn't want to play the game like Axl. Izzy was probably happy with Hollywood Rose level success, fame, etc. Obviously Ezrin, RTB, Zutaut had already made their mark in the biz- but everyone has their own ideas about GNR is supposed to be. In the end Axl is the one held to the fire. I can't blame him for being difficult. Its part of what makes him great as an artist, performer. GNR wouldn't have made it if he wasn't.

What a load of rubbish. Axl was just the lead singer. The band nearly, and probably should have, sacked him when he did not turn up at that Alice Cooper gig.

We wouldn't have specific songs on UYI or UYI at all. We'd have much less rock versions of the songs which I don't think would work in that MTV era. It's a cool idea to so an under produced Exile style album, really dirty and sleazy but it's not entirely what Axl was writing about. I've done it before just put all the rock n roll songs in a playlist or whatever. Even stuff like DNB or 14 Years aren't all bad ass. They all developed in different directions and its all good, why turn on Axl for his material. Axl didn't say I'm not singing Bad obsession or stop them doing anything. They kind of got the best of both worlds. Doing their songs and Axl doing all those big ass videos to see truckloads of records. Fans were happy. The make an omelette you have to break a few eggs.

Like a Dog is a dirty messed up album. I quite like the lilting country on River. Jump in Now is great opener.

One of the songs on Like a Dog sounds like Suckertrain Blues on Contraband.

I like them all. Like a Dog sounds closest to GnR to me... JuJu is classic rock. Have them all on a thumb drive and I listen to Izzy on the way home from work every day... 45 minute drive so I get a healthy dose. On Down the Road is great release. River is my current favorite but I bounce around every few weeks.

I will say this. spent some money to get all his official releases and its not a run to wally world either... You have to want them to get them... WORTH IT THOUGH...Think Izzy is my new alltime favorite over Aerosmith, Stones and Guns...

Ive kind of got into Like a Dog and River.

River is a classic song.

Just Don't Know is an Izzy riff that perfectly illustrates how if Slash played that you'd have a sleazy GNR song.
