Dark City, Dredd, Demons, Exorcist 3(can't believe how underrated this film is)...I know there's more but I'll update later.

Dredd was fucking mad, good call- I snuck into the cinema and saw Dark City on acid back in the day and have a real soft spot for that one too.

Yeah, Dredd was better than I thought it would be.

I usually like the movies that the so called great critics don't like. lol

Most of the horror films even if they are very good and made well, don't get the respect they deserve.

Check out a movie called "No one Lives". It stars Luke Evans who plays the new Dracula. This movie was so good and kept you guessing. The killings are so gory you just have to laugh and when you find out who the killer is and why, I just laughed out loud at that one.

Crazy good movie. Not even sure if it was ever released in a movie theatre, but I saw it on cable and it was just crazy awesome.

Freeway is hilairious.

Snake Eyes with Nic Cage (DePalma movies in general)

Tin Men (Barry Levinson movies in general)

I really DePalma although he often strikes me as a man trying too hard to be Hitchcock.

What About Me? is a brilliant one, its about one girl and how she gets made homeless and has to kinda live on the streets of New York, its stars every last famous scumbag, Johnny Thunders, Jerry Nolan, Dee Dee Ramone, Gregory Corso, Rockets Redglare, all sorts. Good movie, if kinda grim.

Panic in Needle Park, SOOOOOOOO fuckin' underrated, masterful film.

It's not a bad influence. I like how he mixes exploitation and suspense and ponciness. Body Double, Blow Out that Travolta one? Even the modern stuff like Assassin. Just the way he films stuff classical exploitation style.

Also want to mention Urban Cowboy with Travolta. Not sure who directed maybe Paul Shcrader the guy who wrote Taxi Driver.

Also Out of the Blue with Dennis Hopper.

The Funeral dir. Abel Ferrera.

Trees Lounge with Buscemi.

Bad Timing with Art Garfunkle.

When a service/website called swapitshop came to/started in the UK, I was a child and, would create multiple accounts to receive new member credits to get free stuff; I got...

A 4x4 off road monster truck shitty graphics official Sony PlayStation racing/car game.

and I can't remember what else and this film I had never heard of, VHS copy, was old and kind of lumpy but the plot was good!

It was cheesy and crappy graphics from the 80s but it was about two cops, one African American, the other Puerto Rican American being haunted by an old slave owner ghost on this former plantation because he doesn't want them getting with these two white girls, or something, it's movie's actually got a few good jokes.

Starring one of Philadelphia's sons, Sherman Hemlsey 1938 - 2012 R.I.P...

Ghost Fever (1987)

Was funny.

Josie And The Pussycats - I thought it was going to sort of like that shitty Spice Girls movie but was a really goofy satire of consumerism

One Hour Photo - Robin Williiams is so creppy but is a really sad, broken down man

The Iron Giant - This movie has a lot of ambivilant moments. A kid's movie that can really appeal to the adults

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me - I think it gets a bad rep because it focused on Laura Palmer's murder, not enough Dale Cooper, and being too dark and weird. Thankfully I have a 3 1/2 hour version of it that makes a great movie even better

  • 3 weeks later...

I know this forum has a general love for Tarantino so I would like to make a special mention to Jackie Brown, which I think is his best.

I can't call it his best, that's Reservoir Dogs for me, but easily the most underrated. Never gets talked about but it's great.

Summer of Sam

Arlington Road

Memento

The Brave directed by Johnny Depp and co-starring the fuckin' man himself, Mr Marlon Brando i think is a fuckin' fantastic movie, absolutely brilliant. It's about an Indian guy living in these slums that basically signs up to be in a snuff movie on the promise that his family get like 100,000 or something to kick start their life and the movies follows him during his last days and...aw fuck man, it's just crushing to watch, his gorgeous wife, his kid...and he's doing all this, paying the ultimate price, it's at once biblical and achingly common...and this movie was apparently slated in America, it was Johnny Depps directorial debut and he was so hurt by the reviews he ended up withdrawing it, probably available now here there and everywhere but back when i was first looking for it i had to order the motherfucker from Japan. Cracking film though, it really is...and Brandos fuckin' brilliant in it, the 5 minutes he's there.

Such a beautiful, poigniant, obscene, daring piece of cinema, total 10 out of 10 movie for me...and yet it's kinda passed by.
