Contraband vs Chinese Democracy

I agree in general but Shacklers does sound like Korn who are cited as inventing nu metal.

Scraped sounds a bit like Prodigy, the riff is kind of RATM.

Everything is so blended its not easy to pin down.

It's not easily digestible rock but I think numerous listens reveal great songs played with creativity and passion.

I wouldn't say it sounds like Korn, that's a bit much. I'd compare it to Foo Fighters or something. I see what you're getting at though, it definitely has a pronounced "soulless modern alt rock" sound that some seem to ignore.

I have a theory. Duff was pissing and moaning about the snakepit demos. Now, Slash barely plays a note on Contraband and Chinese democracy is a Korny album. It is clear that Axl and Duff wanted to turn GNR into Korn.

Contraband was unimaginative. Slash blew his wad when he did Guns N' Roses and Snakepit.

Voted for CD because like any GN'R album, the really good songs outweigh the not so good songs.

Contraband. There's a few nice songs on there, but Chinese Democracy is a fucking mess. Contraband from start to finish flows well and consistently delivers, one of the few modern hard rock records of the 00's that was actually worth a shit imo

There is nu metal present. Listen to the thing. I seem to recall Spectacle and Headspace or something or other being exceptionally, 'nu metal'. As for Axl he delved into nu-metal with Scraped and Shackler's Revenge.

All Nu metal should be eradicated.

Turn it off oh god that was awfully honest. They do sound very similar and it just makes me not like chinse democracy even more. Damn man I just don't see how a guy can jump in his jeep and go racing around the lake Tahoe mountains four wheeling trails while screaming catcher in the rye versus sucker train blues? Or rhiad and the be shitheads over dirty little thing. It's just laughable like are you just liking it because you've waited so long for CD to come out that you can't resign yourself to the fact that you waited that long for just a poor, grossly overproduced album full of too many axl cliches?

To be fair, neither song is great. One of Axl's low points. The start of the song is on par with an Alarm going off, that ain't music. As for Korn, I like some of their stuff. Narcissistic Cannibal is great.

I don't think it's pointless this is probably the best forum to find hardcore velvet revolver fans and nugnr fans. Contraband isn't doing to bad at around 35% to Chinese 65%..
