The Replacements announce 13-date U.S. tour: ‘Back by unpopular demand’

Finally, a real tour: The Replacements — having performed festival dates and a handful of one-offs since reuniting in 2013 — today announced a 13-date U.S. tour this spring that will find the band performing at theater-sized venues across the country.

The tour opens April 9 in Seattle and runs through May 9 in Philadelphia, hitting cities on both coasts, and in the midwest, with two shows set for Chicago on April 29 and 30 (see full dates below).

The U.S. run comes before the ‘Mats — original bandmates Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson, plus guitarist David Minehan and drummer Josh Freese — head overseas to play shows in London and Amsterdam, as well as making a festival appearance in Spain.

The band has suggested its open to recording a new album, and, in December, debuted a 24-minute mostly instrumental jazz-improv jam called “Poke Me In My Cage” on Soundcloud.

The Replacements tour dates:

I may try to make the Pittsburgh show. Don't know if I'll be able to though, I'm flying out a couple days later for the opening night of Rush's tour in Tulsa.

I love the Replacements, I hope they do more dates in the UK. London is a long drive, hate the M25, yada yada.

Most bands think London is the only place in the UK That's the problem

Terribly boring band. And just like VR, I will never understand how they have so many fans out there.

At the same time, if we all liked the same bands, the world would be a boring place

I sometimes enjoy the challenge of understanding why people like music I do not like. Once upon a time, I would go out and buy the album of the month in a random rock magazine to see if I can relate to the review. Ever since, I have been a fan of Nomeansno, and other odd bands. It is fun

So if Axl's band plans to do shows on these days, then it means Duff can be back, I know there is no GNR touring in the next few months, but if they toured then it would have been great to see Duff back
