Honestly, you all playing your shooting games.

Grow up and play Minecraft like the rest of us civilised adults.

I'm kidding, play whatever you want, I'm just surprised I haven't seen much of one of the most popular video games.

That's funny because the only people i know who play Minecraft are my friends' kids.  Some will even spend most of their days watching YouTube/Twitch videos others playing Minecraft.

Personally I just don’t have the time to invest in something like Minecraft.  Shooting monsters in the face is less demanding. 😂

Oh yes. I started playing this game however it must've been 12 years ago, when I started high school I think, so it's kind of stuck with me.

Must be a generational thing.  I was 31 when Minecraft first came out. SimCity was my jam back in the day when it came to world building.

Haven't made it past Stage 3 yet.

I got a SNES a few years ago, this was one of the favourites.

Just came across this (unofficial info, of course):

The Horizon Forbidden West PC release date will be July 28, 2025.
The above release date is an estimate based on the 1,256 days that it took for the first game to eventually come to PC.

A pinch of salt etc., sure. Anyway, considering I haven’t played the first one yet either, I think I have plenty of time to acquaint myself with that universe.

Currently playing Watch Dogs 2.

Half Life Alyx. Mind blowing. Literally spent 10 minutes standing in my bedroom in my pants twiddling with the knob on a virtual radio. 😂

I’ve heard it’s a revolutionary experience.

Do you think you can go back to non-VR shooters?

I think so yeah. It's a very different experience compared to something like Doom Eternal or COD. It's just so much more immersive and nowhere near as fast paced. Even reloading takes a couple of seconds. Rather than just pressing one button you have to press a button to eject the mag, physically reach over your shoulder to grab a new one from your backpack then slam it into the gun and pull back the slide with your left hand to chamber the round. You also have to wait until you're empty to reload otherwise you lose any rounds that were left in the weapon. When you suddenly run out of ammo with a bad guy charging at you it's a proper shit your pants moment trying to do all that and get a shot off before you get eaten. Especially when it all looks completely solid in full high def 3D.

They need to make this for normal PC as well.

I think it would just be a watered down Half Life 2 without the VR aspect. It honestly is built from the gound up specifically for VR and I don't think it would work all that well without it.

You're probably right, but it's unfair to ordinary pc owners, which I think is the majority. I was there when H-L came out. I knew every brick, every headcrab in that game. I had dreams about G-man. I loved Black Mesa. Now what? I'm not doing the whole VR thing, forget it. And watching it on Youtube sucks. They could rehash it and release it, it should be their moral imperative. I know it would be mine!

I'm actually surprised at how much I'm using my VR headset. It's getting much more use than most drunken impulse buys I've made. It's actually really good value for £300 for the Oculus Quest 2. What graphics card are you running? Mine's only a 2070 Super so it's nowhere near top of the line and still runs it great.

I've recently bought (on installments) a new pc with NV RTX3070, so I'm in heaven right now. Everything runs on ultra more or less. Before that I had a few-year old laptop. I was always used to be in the middle-to-low pc class, not being able to play many of the new games on high details or later play them at all - and now this. Awesome. But I don't think VR would be my thing. Would I try it? Sure, but that's about it. I believe it's great, though.

It’s a shame there’s no way to give it a try before you buy. I think it’s totally worth it for £300 as long as more games like this come out. One thing I really enjoy using it for is watching movies on a 50 foot virtual screen. It’s like having my own cinema. 😂

One thing I would love to try would be some virtual rendition of good old Blood (1997). Yep, I'm this old, and this game has always been my top. Way better than Duke. Holy crap, what a ride.

Great game. I was 18 when it came out so you’re not the only old fucker here. 😅

I know I’m beginning to sound like a scratched record here but this really is a Mario 64 moment as far as I’m concerned. I’ve not had my breath taken away by a game in this way since I first picked up that controller in 1997 and ran around in a proper 3D world. This is the same thing but you’re actually IN it. Mind blowing.

You probably just got it for VR porn you cunt

Alyx does look good. Wish they'd do a normal version. It's a real slap in the face amd for fuck sake just make Half Life 3.

Elden Ring. So far really terrific. Bigger and better Dark Souls 1(which I love).

Just bought it on your recommendation so it'd better be good you cunt

Well if it's not at least it was cheap. :D

Have you played a souls game before? It's harsh but fair. If you pay attention and be patient you'll be okay.

What kind of character you gonna be?

I actually didn't know this was a Souls game until a few days ago. I'd seen all the commercials and wondered why everybody was getting excited for this Elden Ring game until I read a review.

Played lots of Bloodborne and Sekiro and some of Souls 3. No idea how the character setup thingy works so not sure yet. It's still downloading. Any recommendations for a (relative) newby?

Also you're playing on PC too right? How's performance? I've heard it runs pretty badly, even on a 3090 with loads of stuttering.

I'm running it maxed 1080p to stay at 60fps 98% of the time, not noticing stuttering but I get random momentary frame drops. Optimization needs to be improved yeah but they've already started improving it with patches.

I played Dark Souls 1 a lot but surprisingly none of the other souls games yet so I'm pretty rusty and still figuring things out, I'm very early in the game. It depends what you want like if you're a magic user but for me I tend be a tank, heavy armour, high physical attack(I'm thinking I'm gonna try either a halberd, greatsword, hammer or maybe the Morning Star, high stamina, make sure I can roll quickly enough, some archery and just some supporting magic.

So I went with Samurai because that was a good starting point for me, starting with an uchikatana and bow. Apparently you can reconfigure your stats later in the game so that takes some pressure off.

Oh choose the golden seed as your starting trinket because you can use that at a Site of Grace to add an extra Flask. Also, make sure to activate any Site of Grace(bonfires) you see because you need to do a few before you can unlock your horse and the ability to level up. Use an xbox controller.

Yeah, I usually prefer the brute force approach in these kinda games too so might follow your lead.

Gotta say that if you like a challenge you should give Sekiro a shot. Imagine a Souls Game with amazingly tight controls but no armour and no levelling up. 🤣

Bloodborne is also a stone cold classic but I’m craving a PC remaster as even on a PS4 Pro it has major issues with frame timing and judder which give me a right fucking headache after a couple of hours.
