THE UNITED KINGDOM

IN THE EU/OUT THE EU

Unless I'm mistaken.

Though apparently this colour scheme seems legal, the plates just have to be made out of the newer reflective plastic than on anything pre 1973.

It is actually a rather simple argument. Most people's criteria of a 'sovereign state' include,

- an administrative area with predefined border, demarcating it from other administrative areas

- constitutionalism, an ability to legislate within that area through some fixed method of centralisation and/or federation.

- a judicial system

- possession of one's own currency

- possession of an independent foreign policy

- possession of an independent military

If the EU has not already obliterated the above, it has certainly threatened to do so. People are free to support the EU but at least admit that your era of sovereignty is well and truly over.

The EU's sole purpose is to erode national identity and sovereignty and centralise power in Brussels amongst a cabal of unelected wonks leading to a United States of Europe.

I didn't sign up for this shit

Nope, it's to bind Europe economically to avoid catastrophes like WWI and WWII which you yahoos love to start. There are other reasons too, but this is perhaps the most significant to me.

Not often you get an American accusing Europeans of being warmongers, huh?

I don't see the last two points ever happening. There are examples for and against for the rest of those points, none of them are "obliterated."

The EU has absolutely nothing to do with, avoiding ''catastrophes like WW1 and WW2''. Supporters of the European Union like to make out that it does, but it really doesn't.

And the farce in Greece and the disaster that is the Euro disproves the economic unity argument thoroughly.

Europe right now is at its most divided since WW2. Germany and the ECB are dictating the show and everyone else, particularly the peripheral countries, are getting tucked up the arse to save a structurally flawed currency and this bloated vanity project that is the Euro.

Ironically the very thing meant to bring Europe together may prove to be its downfall.
