Estranged Reality
I've made a thread about this performance before, but seriously, how fucking stellar is this: Those screams during the outro... if I closed my eyes, I'd easily believe it were '93-era Rose. And that's not something I can say for any performance from 2001-2006 -- yes, even 2006. As good as he sounded then, he still never reached the deep rasps he does here. I honestly believe he blew his voice out on this tour and that's why he suddenly relapsed in 2011/2012 into the Mickey Mouse voice. This is just unbelievably good.FUCK!
Mr. Dude
Holy shitballs that sounds great. Not just Axl either. The band sounds supreme. As Tupac might say "On point and game tight". Edited April 27, 2015 by Mr. Dude
Estranged Reality
i think the band always sounds tight. after all, axl hired some of the best hired hands available in the music industry. when the band is weak, it all comes down to his performance. he's who everybody is watching, and when he's weak, the band is weak too, no matter how tight they may be.but axl is absolutely fucking on fire for this show. listen to that paradise city... jesus... if he sang it like that at the VMAs in 2002, history might be different.why is it so hard to find full videos of this concert? KOHD, Paradise City, Rocket Queen, Sorry and WTTJ are all I can find. this ain't bad at all, though! hooah.

wasted
I like 2010 Porto Alto too. That Duff in South America had energy too.
downzy
Agreed. It's tough to compare each concert. I'm partial to Toronto 2010 simply because I was there. You're right, you just need to close your eyes and you'd swear it was 1992 all over again. For me, as someone who missed my chance to see Axl back in the early 90s thanks to the fucking riot in Montreal, hearing Axl sound like that in person was surreal and amazing. Truly one of the best years for any Axl fan.
Nosaj Thing
That Rocket Queen is easily one of the best post-real Guns N' Roses. I'm glad I went to see Axl in 2010. Who would have thought it would be the last time he sounded like he should.
maynard
Axl deserves lots of praising for those years. He really sounded fucking amazing. Just good old awesome Axl doing what he does best. What a voice! Makes Ashba unnoticeable almost. Thanks for those amazing moments Axl even though I couldn't watch any show in person. Until 2010 I respected the guy so much. Bring him back please. IncitingChaos
as clear as a vocal audio that you can get on SCOM at a South American concert. Guy must have been close to the speakers to pick it up. Also Axl putting on a backwards cap for a few seconds makes me think he should go back to that look haha I always imagined it would look dumb at his age but from that blurry pic it looked awesome. Tom2112
That's Axl pushing his voice to the very limits. It sounds painful on a couple of those videos (Shacklers, end of Rocket Queen). It reminds me of some of the shows in 92 when his voice was ripped to pieces. There's some really great 2010 shows where he has drive like this and he is giving a great entertaining performance too (Paris was good if memory serves).I'm no doctor but I'd say performances like this one don't help vocal health. It sounds cool and it looks cool that he's throwing himself into it, feeling each note but I'd wager that a vocal coach would advise against doing a three hour show with a strenuous technique like his. If he could tap this voice for certain material he would onto a winner and then use his cleaner voice with elements of break up like he does these days. For instance on those las Vegas shows, he rasps the shit out of Yesterdays, and then sings YCBM with a clean voice. At the end of the show, he rasps Nightrain - which means he mickeyed YCBM out of choice.I really don't mind the cleaner vocals on some of the songs. The clean voice, for me, is not so horrible, it just doesn't fit a lot of the songs. YCBM, the end part on SCOM, Rocket Queen. Those are songs made for Axl Rose's voice, and will sound shit for the most part when sang with a clean voice.

Things out of control, huge concerts, fights, drugs, media everywhere. A lot of people think it was fake and just to show their toughness, but this band was dangerous. Trouble followed them and it's something that nobody can recreate. Even with Axl singing like the old days it just isn't the same. Also I thought someone might find this video fun to watch. CNN covering an out of control band that somehow gets it together to do a show haha crazy times.
