Popular Post Subtle Signs
Last night I saw Down play here in Buffalo. I'm a way bigger Pantera fan but it was still cool to see Down again as the last time I saw them was at Rock On The Range which is a huge festival as opposed to the small 1,000 person club that they played last night. About two hours after the gig,Phil came out and signed/took pictures with the 15 or so people who were waiting. He must have spent a good half hour signing, taking pictures and just bullshitting with everyone. I'm pretty sure DOWN sold a V.I.P. package but to me this was cooler knowing he chose to hang out with us as opposed to being part of a paid function. Subtle Signs
Nice shirt.Awesme, Phil is great I wasn't sure what to expect based on things I had read but on this night the dude couldn't have been cooler. Before he came out security told us he wouldn't stop since the band had done a paid meet and greet. Half of the people waiting had to be between 16-21 so I'm sure Phil knows not all of those kids had a spare $125 for a meet and greet.
Silent Jay
That's actually pretty cool. Great to hearI've heard he switches his style of singing now. I know he's always been supportive wth the band Ghost, one of the first guy, and some members played with Down once.
Rdeyahlxp
Yeah, I remember him wearing Ghost shirts before they were well-known.
troccoli
Did he comment on the GNR shirt? For that matter, did anyone else comment on your GNR shirt? Just curious, awesome story, glad you got to meet him. Pantera is legendary of course, and, to me, the first Down album Nola is one of the top 10 metal albums of the 90s. axlslash
He seems to get that sort of aloof heavy metal asshole reputation in the press - glad to hear it isn't necessarily true in person! Awesome story and amazing pictures.

ZoSoRose
Phil always seems like a cool dude from what I can see. Obviously, we don't know everything that went down. But Vinnie is the one that won't let bygones be bygones
Johnny Drama
Down were one of the best gigs I've ever seen. Also gigantic Pantera fan here.

CheapJon
Truly fucking awesome! Anselmo is my favorite metal vocalist of all time. Pantera is my favorite metal band and Down has been my favorite band for some years now. Best concert I ever went to, surely I'm biased but it was pretty awesome. Was smoking a couple of secret agents (joints in cigarette papers) and people around started noticing. "Theres a weed man somewhere, who's the weed man?" so I started passing it around. When I got back home (it was at a festival) I saw some pictures on facebook. Some friends who had graduated from High school had posted some pictures with Phil and the other guys from Down, they had been drinking at one of my favorite bars in my hometown! What I would give to stumble upon them like that. Of course the ones meeting them had no clue who they were.

RandallFlagg
Nice! Phil is a pretty cool guy I've decided after watching/reading interviews of him over years and from each era, I'd love a conversation with him. Down's last album was killer, I'm still digesting it but every album is beautiful and obviously I love Pantera too.
