Axl burning a Nirvana hat with the band playing Smells Like Teen Spirit in the background

Kurt and Axl did their trash talk thing about other bands to get a round of applause, but there's usually no thought put into what they're going to say, and it's preserved out there for years.

Axl was already used to media distortion and being painted as a bad guy, but I don't think Kurt was prepared for what Vanity Fair put out.

Huh?

Kurt was consistently against homophobia, misogyny and racism. Axl is certainly a misogynist and he fit the racist and homophobic label with One In a Million. There was definitely a reason for Kurt's reaction. He didn't follow GNR enough to get explanations but it wasn't shit talking for the sake of shit talking.

Axl doesn't understand it wasn't about being an outsider or trying to be cool. It was about his own actions and attitude.

edit: Nirvana over MJ is fucking blaspheme btw...they don't trump him in music or success/impact

Agree.

But Rolling Stone have always hated MJ, whereas Kurt is a nauseating darling to the critics, same as Springsteen and Dylan.
