Just for fun.... lets predict how it's going to go down and see who gets it right.

Axl announces reunion on Jimmy Kimmel. Slash is a surprise guest. No real specifics other than it's been a long time and we've made amends to each other.

Lineup is Ax, Slash, Duff, Fortus, Frank, Dizzy. Izzy does some guest spots. If a three guitar lineup continues it will be Kushner as the third.

New greatest hits is announced with 2/3 new/unheard songs on it.

I just have to wonder how Axl will approach the subject of having Slash back after years of things like the cancer remark and so on.

He could just say "People change" for all I care, but it's definitely the thing I'm most curious about.

Axl goes on Kimmel.

Kimmel: So who's in the band?

Axl: Well, We have Chris Pitman, Frank, Dizzy and Richard

Kimmel: So a few gaps there huh?

Axl: Yeah well we lost a few members along the way, hey it wouldn't be Guns N' Roses otherwise.

Kimmel: Do you have any replacements lined up?

Axl: We have a few candidates.. Still working on the details.

Kimmel: Candidates huh? Anyone we know?

Axl: Well, a few a familiar faces, and what's more, we have a bunch of new songs we haven't.. Guns N' Roses haven't played before.

Kimmel: So like, a new album?

Axl: Not exactly, I mean, we played Whole Lotta Rosie and The Seeker, so more along those lines.

Kimmel: Well, when will we know more about the new players?

Axl: Soon... *puts on sunglasses* ... is the word.

****YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*****

I hope at least Axl, Duff and Slash are there. If this is the start of something new, than it really needs to be more than just Axl.

I really hope that they discuss how this came to be and if we are going to hear new music as a result. I also want to know about the 2nd half of cd, but doubt they will get into that.

I predict Axl shows up and gives the crowd Taco Bell

I predict axl will come back on, announce that things have been mended with slash and that they'll be doing coachella, a summer stadium tour in the states then try to hit Europe in the fall. I don't think he'll go into crazy detail as to how the rift ended but I think it'll be enough for people to still speculate on here as to how it happened or if it's some conspiracy theory :P the lineup will be:

Axl

Slash

Izzy(whenever he wants)

Fortus

Duff

Steven/Matt

Dizzy

Pitman

Everyone believe Krush will be the third guitarist and not Gilby/Izzy, if three guitarists. That's sad.

Axl and Slash announcing Coachella + American Tour this summer, with original line up + Frank, Dizzy, Tommy, 4tus and Pitman.

Promise of a new GnR album by the end of the year (Best of or CDII) and a Blu-Ray (documentary of all the live shows).

Cracking jokes. Star Wars jokes. Axl got a new hat. Hats jokes.

Free Taco Bells. Free tickets. Free hugs.

Kimmel will look thinner than both of them.

Kimmel will be interviewing his guest then all of a sudden over the PA system you'll hear "YOU KNOW WHERE THE FUCK YOU ARE? YOU'RE IN THE JUNGLE BABY. TIME TO DIIIIIIIIIIIIE"

then Axl and Slash will appear from backstage with Slash ripping on his Les Paul and the crowd goes crazy...it'll be pure chaos

You never know - it's also early in the evening and they could easily go to the Troubadour (no shows scheduled), Palladium (no shows scheduled), Whisky (no shows scheduled) or Roxy (Puddle's Pity Party?) and do a surprise show. I just don't see them doing a big show until they do one in front of an audience, even if it's invite only.

Axl will trudge onstage looking identical to the fat, washed-out, lazy, man-baby he has become, except without the idiotic porn-stache.

He'll answer a few words about how he and Salsh are now cool, and then he'll announce that they're playing Coachella and "looking at a few touring options."

Coachella lineup:

Axl

Slash

Fortruss

Duff

Dizzy

Pitman

Frank

They'll play pretty much the Vegas setlist. Nothing from Slash's solo work or VR. Axl will sound weaker than ever and look fatter than ever.

Yes, they'll play ChiDem songs. The show will open with WTTJ and close with PC. Big surprise.

Axl goes on Kimmel and announces new GnR line up, consisting of himself, Richard, Duff, Frank, Dizzy, Kushner, Pitman (still not sure why you need two sets of keys).

He announces that they will be releasing old material / videos from the vault some of which will date back to the original line up.

New line up will show case at Coachella, because of the old material link, Slash, Izzy, Stevie and possibly Matt will guest on Albumn and various tour dates but are not permanent members. Some of them may make an appearance at Coachella to perform a new song and all present on the day will join the encore, this is the closest we get to a reunion.

Everyone is keeping quiet because they all stand to make some money based on royalties. Material has been on hold waiting for Slash to agree his terms . Now they are all talking I see this as being the most likely outcome.

Why do I think Duff rejoined? I think he prefers to be known as a permanent band member, he has had several projects over the years but guns is his rightful place. I think his work ethic will ignite Axl and I'm fairly sure he would have laid down some terms if he is going to get on board with a new line up.

Yes there are flaws in my theory, but I still refuse to believe how ever much I want it that we get a full reunion even at Coachella.

Today - Nightrain surprise prize is revealed. It's an item signed by Axl, Slash and Duff. I won't win it.

Tomorrow - Guns N' Roses are announced as Coachella headliners.

Axl shows up on Kimmel. He looks fine, and smiley. It's a relaxed interview. Some jokes are made. Halfway through, Slash pops up. Axl and Slash hug. The crowd cheer. The forum comes to a standstill. Coachella is confirmed. Mention of further concerts in the US, and possibly some concerts in Europe.

Wednesday - Forum members who stayed up late to watch Kimmel find themselves dozing off at work and hum Welcome to the Jungle in order to try stay awake, much to the bemusement of their colleagues.

Some forum members still insist that nothing's happening/it's all going to go wrong/Axl will sound terrible.

April - Guns N' Roses headline Coachella. There is a live stream, so that those unable to attend can still watch the first concert. Part of the crowd goes wild at the opening notes. The non-GN'R fans huddle behind their iPhones. A beaming Steven is seen behind the drums. Izzy looks relaxed. Axl brings the rasp. Slash and Duff look cool AF. In the corner of the stage, a guy holds up a triangle... and history is made.

Other GN'R members join in at different stages of the concert. Matt, Fortus etc.

Some forum members still insist that it's all going to end in tears...

Some considerable time ago, I fantasised about a hybrid line-up consisting of: Axl/Slash/Duff/Fortus/Ferrer/Pitman/Dizzy, reasoning that it struck a balance between old and new, and that Slash and Duff would fit neatly into the already-established touring line-up. Izzy and other former members could guest as and when it suited them, and casual fans would be happy with Axl, Slash and Duff as a "reunion". Also – selfishly – I've always wanted to see Slash and Fortus on stage together.

I never thought it'd actually come to pass, because for Slash and Duff to come on board, Axl would have to screw over long-standing members like Bumblefoot and Stinson (this predated Duff's stint with the band). With their departures, I never dared hope that Slash and Duff would step in – but it's looking increasingly likely that this is what we're going to get. That makes me deliriously happy.

So, since my wildest fantasies seem to have come to pass, here are a few optimistic predictions:

Axl and Slash turn up on Kimmel. Axl announces "reunion" tour. Line-up is Axl/Slash/Duff/Fortus/Ferrer/Pitman/Dizzy. First gig is Coachella, followed by a stadium tour of the US and selected festivals in Europe. Izzy guests occasionally. Axl has hit the gym, got himself a voice coach, shed the weight and grown a beard, and is back on 2006 form.

GN'R Best Of album is released with two or three new tracks – likely drawn from the CD II sessions with Slash/Duff overdubs, or maybe the VR tracks from the Corey Taylor sessions, with Axl adding vocals (the former is more likely, since Axl's vocals seem to be the most time-consuming part of the process).

In 2017, the band mark the 30th anniversary of Appetite for Destruction with gigs featuring original AFD members. A self-titled album (Guns N' Roses) is released in time for the holiday season, drawn from the best of Axl's vault with Slash/Duff overdubs, and VR material. Izzy contributes as co-writer and guest rhythm guitar on several tracks (maybe even vocals?). Hopefully there's at least one Duff vocal song.

The original albums are remastered and re-released with additional material. Blu-ray/audio releases of classic-era gigs (Ritz '88!).

All is right with the world, and global peace is established.

Some years after the fuss over the reunion has blown over, GN'R quietly releases a comprehensive box set of the CD-era sessions, including the re-recorded AFD, for the hardcore fans.

Axl will be by himself. He'll not look much different to what we already see. Unfit, big hat, sunglasses, layers of clothes and lots of jewellery. People will be disappointed, and another round of discussions about how he needs to get into shape will commence.

He'll answer soft questions and fluff. He'll confirm the "reunion" with Slash, and give a vague answer about why he stopped being so bitter and hateful towards him. Might even crack a joke about it, but there will be no attempt by either Kimmel or Axl to address the issue seriously.

Coachella will be the full classic line-up, as will the following shows.

Izzy will take a break every now and then, so a reserve team of Gilby, Fortus and Kush will cover his spot.

Matt and Frank will also cover Steven for a few shows.

We will get at least two new songs at some point. If the reception is good, we will get an album of new material.

hopefully it's a success- but if it falls flat then at least they gave it a shot. i was following the last tour and it seemed like when duff did those few shows filling in axl stepped it up to an acceptable level. hopefully he's also excited and steps up his game even more. he's probably feeling pretty good to get the monkey off his back.

Axl will confirm that Slash and Duff are back in GNR. They'll probably do some shows with Izzy and Steven (Matt?) too. But Fortus and Frank will probably be the official members. He'll confirm that there's gonna be a tour. Guess he'll mention something about the next album also. Would love to see Slash on Jimmy Kimmel too.

Axl shows up on Kimmel. Tells a story about his cat. Says the rumors aren't true about being friendly with Slash and that there is no reunion but Chinese Democracy II will be out "soon". Kimmel tells Axl that he has a surprise for him and that Slash is backstage. Axl pretends to be nervous. Slash comes out. They stand face to face. Slash says, "you want to do this?" and then they eventually reunite for a concert 3 years later at WWE WrestleMania 35 where they play Triple H's theme music in honor of Lemmy.

There will be talk of

"Like every band, we've experienced changes over the years and it's just another one of those things..."

Will you guys be pissed if it's pretty much the same setlist that Axl has toured the last 5 years? What if they don't replace the Chinese Democracy songs and just play for less than two hours, would you guys still be happy?

Out with the frustration that there will probably not be new material, I'm looking forward to seeing Slash play November Rain and Estranged.

EDIT:

Also chat of Halloween trees, followed by tweets from Josh Freese saying Uncle Axl is cool like his mum for having such a delight in his home.
