One Direction had the upper levels closed off, but I think they kind of over saturated the market by over touring. I know what you mean. I think it may have something to do with the demographics tbh. Fans of them (Beyonce and One Direction) are usually teenagers that need their parents to take them or something along those lines. It also didn't help Beyonce that it was a Tuesday night and school is still going on for most districts.

You can also take the "T" (trolley) from station square to the casino stop (which is the last stop). It's like $2.50 each way. But walking to the stadium is possible- if you don't mind walking 30-40 mins, that's probably all it will take you. Plus it's a nice walk through town and across the bridges. Pittsburgh is a small city, you can pretty much walk anywhere. Edited June 6, 2016 by KeeKat

Will probably walk after the show I guess a lot of people will go to the city center, or anywhere they serve beer, so we can just follow the horde

If you are staying at the Sheraton at Station Square, it's a really nice hotel! The concierge can point you in the best direction to get to Heinz Field, but I recommend taking the T. It's a 5 minute ride & goes under the Allegheny River to get to Heinz Field (if you're claustrophobic, maybe don't take it though). If the Gateway Clipper is running, do that instead and take the T back. The Grand Concourse building at Station Square is really pretty- it's historic (old train station that is now a restaurant/bar). Pricey though. An incline ride up to Mt. Washington is 100% an absolute MUST. It's been voted one of the best city views in the country. That's also right at Station Square. You picked a great location to stay. And if you like art and have the time, the Andy Warhol museum is cool. Market square is a nice small restaurant/bar area pretty much in the center of the city, but the most popular area late night is the South Side (East Carson Street.) There are some bars & restaurants right by the stadium too where you can sit outside by the river. Okay, I think that's it. ;-)
Izzyslash
@KeeKat Thank you very much I have very little knowledge of Pittsburgh, so your input is very appreciated. Will take the incline for sure. I saw they sold beer on the top as well really looking forward to seeing the place, even though it is a short visit!
AtGame7
Just to repeat what has already been said, make sure you do the incline ride, honestly you will not be disappointed. It's a Tuesday night so things will likely be calm around town. It's MLB's All Star game so there won't be any Pirates traffic to deal with. Getting around the city will be as easy as it gets for this show. I'm still working on getting a room at the casino (right next to Heinz Field) for a pre game "tailgate" but it isn't looking good. I will be at the bar there prior to the game and would love to buy you a beer if you stop by.
Clouse Wilhelm
Long time lurker here, but this is my first post. I have tickets to the Pittsburgh show on July 12th, but I can't help but notice that tickets seem to be moving a bit slowly, and they haven't announced an opener yet. I know the show is two weeks away still, but should I be concerned? Me and my group would be devastated if they cancelled for slow sales... However if your tix are in the upper most level, get there early as they will probably close that whole level and re-seat everyone up there. It resulted in a bit of a cluster fuck in DC. Clouse Wilhelm
Yeah I read about that whole thing. What a mess. Luckily for us, our tickets are on the rail in the lowest part of the seating bowl in section 110. I really hope ticket sales pick up. Heinz field "only" seats 68,400 for football, and they routinely sell out for the country shows there. Would be a shame if it didn't sell out when an actual good show comes around. They should have booked Cleveland instead. ?

They are kicking ass!

Clouse Wilhelm
Oh yeah, I would enjoy it even if the place were empty! ?? I have been a fan since I first heard them on the radio when I was a little kid. Got to see them in 2006 and it was awesome, and again min 2011, and 2014 and had a good time. But I have been waiting to see Axl, slash, and duff together my whole life. The fact that they are killing it like they are is just amazing. I don't think I can remember a reunion tour that didn't dissapoint, yet these guys are out there defying all logic. It's awesome! Guns n Roses might literally save rock once again!

If there is enough forum members going please let me know if you want to set up a tailgate party. I have some (not a ton) of pull at the casino. For those of you not familiar with Pittsburgh the Casino is basically in the shadow of Heinz Field. I may be able to get us one of the upstairs rooms (view of the stadium) if there is enough interest. We could just take over Levels (main bar) and I likely can get a good bit of drinks comped as there is no free alcohol in casinos in PA. If you want to go traditional tailgate in the parking lot we will have to see what the rules are as the Kenny Chesney crowd has ruined it for most concert goers at Heinz Field. They've just trashed the entire North Shore multiple times and now the rules are very strict for tailgating in the stadium/city lots. Hey Gunners!! 14 days!!! instead of scrolling thru the thread I'm going to be lazy and ask is there any meet up before the gig? Also-tix say 7:30. thats when it starts NOT when doors open. i almost made that mistake & missed AIC at the Detroit gig. ...and the merch truck is RAD! I'M SO EXCITED!!!! I might be in the minority, but I thought it would be cool if they brought in the Clarks. They are local favorites, have been around as long as guns, and are just a lot of fun. I'm not looking to profit off of friends or even other fans. I guess I'm torn between sitting up a bit higher in 234 row B or sitting lower and in row A. I've never seen a concert at Heinz field so I'm just going off my gut here thinking 134 row A is the better tickets, but a good friend says sitting up a little higher in 234 would be better. Both sets of tickets are same price so that isn't even part of the equation. Anyone been there for a concert and have an opinion? I gotta think row A in 134 is the best choice but 234 are club seats..... i just upgraded to sect 114. anyone know how the view is there? Got aisle seats-but not first row
