Tour Lithographs and show specific artwork

Okay everybody

Well I think the time has come for me to offer up a Kobe.

I'm sure many of you remember I was holding on to them for trading especially for the European concerts and even though there were many more-than-fair cash offers from many of you, I didn't want to sell. I wasn't then and still am not now, in it for the money. My spares have always been for trade only.

Well now, the European leg is drawing to a close and I'm a lot more comfortable trading away Kobe. I'm still not interested in cash offers. I'm looking for fair trade offers only. So if you're interested in getting a Kobe, let me know what you have to offer. I'm mostly interested in early 2016 lithos and any possible Euro lithos you have. Not sure exactly what I want just yet but just like that quote about pornography, "I know it when I see it" haha.

Send me a PM if you have something to offer and I'll be sure to reply. Thanks!

Last time in sweden:Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose was arrested in Stockholm yesterday after allegedly biting a security guard in the leg outside his hotel, police said.

Maybe they should've made a litho about that event. :P At least it would have been different....

Missed opportunity.

What about the St Louis one

Now that would be an instant classic. I'm not a litho enthusiast, but I would want to buy that.

And P.S. that Sweden thing- it said allegedly - meaning it could be total B.S.

I ended up leaving both lithos and just got the Soviet style shirt. Partly as there was nowhere for bags and I didnt want to think about crushing it all gig, and partly as i didnt really like either. I think the Soviet design is nice but looked better on a shirt, and i like the concept of the Bones one but the execution and maybe even print quality didnt seem that great. Much happier with the London 1st night and Copen lithos.

Fair enough, didn't know the reference for the second one, makes it instantly way cooler, definitely something Buhler could have made.

Still not a fan of the other one, but maybe just because it reminds me too much of the CD era.

It really does have a CD era feel, which to me was a low point for GNR imagery. I can still recall that hideous dragon thing for the 2002 US tour and wondering wtf is going on with Axl. I would love to know if the band or Axl is involved with approving or disapproving the images for the lithos. Surely, the band has seen the lithos, but are they involved at all, or is it just TB.

Just curious... how old are you?

I can definitely understand people thinking it looks like Chinese Democracy artwork - after all they both deal with communism. But this type of communist iconography vastly predates Chinese Democracy. The lookalike Cyrillic script should also be a dead giveaway (backwards characters like И and Я) seeing as that's clearly Russian - after all, Chinese posters use Chinese characters!)

This is an example of a Russian Communist propaganda poster from nearly 100 years ago:

I only ask about your age because I can imagine that if you're in your late 20s or younger, then you might not have any memories of the cold war and how prominent it was to use Cyrillic script to give that 'soviet feel' to a poster or a movie. Back then, if you wanted to give the feeling of communism, you went with Soviet imagery. Red Dawn, Hunt for Red October, Red Heat, Spies Like Us, Rocky IV, all those sorts of movies fell back on Russian cold war imagery and Cyrillic script:

And it wasn't even restricted to English language culture. Even the Germans went with Cyrillic script in the 80s and 90s to promote movies about Soviet communism!

These days, it's China that tends to be the first country younger people might think of when they think of 'red Communism' but definitely for anyone old enough to remember life during the cold war, that second Prague poster should scream European communism, not Chinese Democracy :D

So Warpig is making a killing on eBay with all these suspect lithographs. He has sold 23 of them so far with just over $4,000.00 in sales. Another 11 auctions currently running and only 2 that are numbered (a DC and an April Fools).

What I find curious is that he has 100% positive feedback. Has anyone here bought from him? If so, did he give any sort of excuse as to why he is sitting on a stockpile of unnumbered lithographs that doesn't involve having access to a printing press?

Doesn't surprise me at all that he has 100% feedback.

People are getting cheap copies of $300 or $400 lithos for $100. Why rock the boat?

If people are happy with fakes then what can you do, it's their money. It's not like the hundreds of Chinese websites out there that sell fake watches are getting ripped to shreds and taken down for selling fakes. They stay in business because people don't want to pay the real price for real goods when they can get fakes for cheaper.

I dunno... these two, for example, are numbered

Truth is, it's a lot of trouble to make a fake litho in a single copy, especially if you try to make it look remotely legit. Even that can be easily identified by a anyone who ever saw a real litho. This seller has 100% rating since 1999...  As usual with ebay though, "buyer beware" - I'm in no way encouraging anyone to buy these items

Did anyone ever end up buying these numbered ones from him?

Anyone confirm if they were real or fake?

Im 38. At first I thought the Prague ones were not compelling, but then you and other member added context, which increased my appreciation of those lithos. But, when that one member compared it to the CD era imagery that stuck in my mind. Its definetly unique and the European lithos have a rich history to each one that I was unaware of , except  for Madrid which is instantly recognizable. I appreciate the context  you have provided, as I said, I wasn't aware. Still, in mind, Kobe is the superior product, followed by the mermaid, the trident dude ,and the northern lights. Those were exceptional content to me and understated color scheme wise in the coolest way. And, I consider NZ/AUS to be expensive toilet paper. But, I love these fucking lithos, and my offer to you stands, when I go to Tulsa i will get you one at cost if your interest is still healthy.

Good day to you all - I am new to this forum although used to look quite a lot at some great advice and information.

There is a worrying trend with these limited edition litho with bands being sold for great profit on eBay. It can only go to promote the higher sale price and also the soaking up of copies keeping them out of the hands of those fans going to shows.

One seller on eBay has been getting £350+ for at least three of the London shows and amazingly getting equally eye watering sums on Eddie Vedder ones from last month or so.

I was lucky enough to have been to London Stadium a fortnight before to see Depeche Mode so knew there was a merch stall outside so I could buy one (and Ripper t-shirt) and take back to hotel, so I could enjoy gig without trying to keep safe and unspoilt. Never crossed my mind but I could have bought 10/15 of the Litho's and as many t-shirts as I could carry to sell on at a profit.

Got tickets for MSG in October and imagine they may be harder to come by!!!

On recent US stadium tour Metallica put some on sale the next day or so on artist website so at least there was a second chance.

Hi all,

I have been to quite a few of the shows on the Not in This Lifetime tour and have been lucky enough to purchase lithographs from all of them except the show in Pittsburgh where I had to turn to eBay. The first show I saw was in Nashville, which is my favorite of course, also with respect to the lithograph design. Anyways, at the Copenhagen show last week I managed to get a few extra lithographs. Mainly for the purpose of either trading or recouping some of the (unreasonable) costs I have incurred travelling to see GnR (not that I regret it of course). So, if anyone is interested in trades or buying, PM me, thanks.

Oh okay, so you're older than I thought!

The more I think about it, the more I can understand your point of view though. I admit that I slept through Chinese Democracy. The last ten or fifteen years, Guns N' Roses was not Guns N' Roses for me so I didn't really pay much attention to them. I don't think I was ever exposed to much CD imagery. If I had been then maybe it would shock my memory more.
