I've lived here off and on my whole life. East sac, Elk Grove, Folsom, Granite Bay, El Dorado Hills, Placerville... All over really but I've been in Elk Grove for the past 5 years. :)

ah ok. i started off in Loomis, moved there with my family. very nice house, great view of the lake. after my mom passed i moved in with my horrid ex bf who got hooked on coke and started selling so he could afford the ginormous amount of coke he did.broke up with him and lived for a short while in Rio Linda  but left cos the horrid ex got beat up by the husband of the couple i was staying with and he swore the guy did it for me and was going to have his wonderful meth head friends/customers kill me. moved back home but soon got a job in downtown sac and an apartment there. it was nice, the rent was way cheap but the crazy homeless people yelling all night was not so great. then a guy i worked with had a house for rent so i moved in...this was in Del Paso Heights! yeesh, that was crazy. i'd be in bed and hear the helicopters, then i'd see their spotlight right in my back yard and they were using the megaphone saying drop your guns we have you surrounded! so then i bought a small house in West Sac but i had a great opportunity to move here to Reno. the first place i had was bad ( my next door neighbor was also a drug dealer and there were all kinds of messed up crap happening, killings robberies the whole bit. ) but now i am on a very quiet, peaceful mountain where i see more wild rabbit and horses than people :) and i love it! :D

if anyone has ever thought to visit this area we have beautiful Lake Tahoe, we have historic Virginia City, in the summer we have the famous Reno Rib Contest, we have the National Championship Air Races that combines the world's fastest motor sport with spectacular military and civilian air entertainment to offer the most unique air racing event in the world. we have the Reno Hot Air Balloon Races, the annual Street Vibrations with many activities geared for motorcyclists and we have the Italian Festival with grape stomping, sauce cooker competitions and wine walks. in winter we have spectacular ski resorts ( with beautiful snowy views for us non skiiers who want to sip Irish coffee while the brave, more coordinated of the groups race down the mountains! ) geez, i sound like a spokesperson for the Chamber of Commerce! :D and of course we have the casinos! ;)

Sorry to hear you went through all that. I wish I could say my experience has been better but Sacramento definitely has it's very rough spots and drug issues. Elk grove was pretty good for awhile but now we have the almost daily helicopter announcements and what not. It's a shame really, if they would clean it up a bit this city could be a great place to live but it just seems to be going downhill year after year.

I lived in Verdi (near reno) for a year or so back in 1999. I'm sure it's changed a ton since then but I agree it's a beautiful area and has a never ending list of things to go see and do. Much more fun than sac so I'm a little jealous. :P

I'll be going to London and somewhere in Europe for some GNR gigs, but all of my other travel plans this year revolve around last minute breaks in Scotland. Went to some random place called Straphpeffer last weekend which was lovely. Going to Aviemore this Friday, another beautiful part of the country. In the summer I'll be away every weekend camping, probably down the west coast as I've not been that far across, but it's still too cold for that at the minute so I've been using AirBNB to find obscure places to stay & it's great :)

that sounds like fun! there are some places in N Cali by the ocean that people seem to think looks like Scotland in places. have fun! :D

I bet it's a lot warmer there though right?

I'd love to get satellite internet or something similiar so that I could go camping for a month or two without having to race home to work. I'd also need 60 spare batteries for my laptop come to think of it <_<
