lilacmess
The Frusciante thread got me thinking about fiercly underrated masterpieces. Grandiose albums that rule your world, but nobody else seems to care or has even taken notice. Here's my list: 1.) The Gutter Twins - Saturnalia (2008) 2.) SOHN - Tremors (2014) 3.) Brand New - The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me (2006) 4.) Fever Ray - Fever Ray (2009) 5.) John Frusciante - The Empyrean (2009) Honorable mention: Guns n' Roses - Chinese Democracy (2008) I love it. Most people don't care. DR DOOM
A bit obscure, but Bill Ward (original Black Sabbath drummer)'s first solo album WARD ONE: ALONG THE WAY (1989) springs to mind. Jack Bruce sings two numbers on it, it's got a bit of a Pink Floyd feel and it's for the most part, real music. Ian Hunter/Mick Ronson's YUI ORTA (1988) is another. Ian Hunter (Mott The Hoople) and the late Mick Ronson (Spiders From Mars) with a fucking grand rock and roll album. Ronson's guitar (on this, and in general) is a total joy. Len Cnut
Possibly the best Stones song ever, its bluesy, its unapologetically offensive, it confirms everything about The Stones that mothers in the 60s worried about, its queer, its overtly sexual, the harmonica is fuckin brilliant, even the recording, the grimey quality of it, i think its brilliant, theres another version of it out there that is slightly less well paced but this one is perfect.
