emilxert
Apologies for probably another duplicate of the popular topic, but I wanted a definite answer from buyers of the top VIP package (not only European, but also worldwide attendees of concerts): Did you meet any of the band members? ZoSoRose
You dont meet anyone with any of the paid packages. You just spend an asinine amount of money on a few merch items, appetizers, and a pic on stage to go with the inflated ticket price
Road Crew
I bought the WTTJ package in Adelaide, from memory it was the third most expensive VIP package, with the PC package having a pre-show "party" and then the backstage package. Neither of the more expensive packages got access to the front pit and there was no meet and greet of band members. Like others have said, the merchandise packs (the same for all VIP packages besides the lanyard) were ok but not why I bought the package - mine is untouched and if any one is after one to buy or trade I'm open to offers. With the VIP tickets you get early access, which means first crack at the merch stands inside, and for the packages with GA tickets a chance to get on the rail. It also got access to cash bars that only VIP ticket holders could access (people were lining up for over 30 minutes at the other bars) and toilets. My wristband also got me to the front of the line at these bars. None of this was really worth the cash I paid, but being in the front pit was. This was the first time the Gunners had played a show in Adelaide with the old line up (minus Izzy and Steve obviously) and I would do it all again if they came back tomorrow. Meeting the die hard fans was also great, and the sound from the front was amazing. That's my two cents anyway.
Popular Post killuridols
I attended the two concerts in Argentina in November, 2016. I didn't buy any of this pompous shit and I got front row from just arriving 1 hour before the show I remember seeing a guy in front of me, with the backpack of the VIP packages and I laughed my ass off. That guy had paid 4 times what I paid and I was two steps behind him.

Shame, I expected someone other than Axl to come and say hi to people taking a tour of the backstage, as everyone other than Axl is usually a couple hours earlier for a soundcheck. For instance, Slash had a pre show soundcheck last time he was here, and also did meet and greet once

I don't really mean to disrespect the OP but I find these things a bit absurd. Of course, to each his own, but I wouldn't even pay that money if they guaranteed me I was gonna meet the band. For fuck's sake, they are just people.
emilxert
Well, I did wait for Axl for 4 days once (sleep and food included), shook Slash's hand, got autographs for free from both. It's Duff that I need, and I don't think I'll be able to wait for him at his hotel in a foreign country this summer at all. Shame that these packages don't include meet and greet, I guess my Duff beer sticker is gonna be left untouched

I've never paid to meet a celebrity and I've met pretty much every one I've wanted to meet without much effort. Offering a package like this is (IMO) the ultimate spit on fans.
Good, Fuck'n, Night.
I paid $600 for pit tickets & was worried the experience would be a let down & give me the shits. I loved it & would do it again. Being that close to slash shredding GnR, even with a weak ageing Axl was a dream come true for me.

Offering a package like this is (IMO) the ultimate spit on fans. I've never paid, either. Just got lucky and used a bit of work in some cases. Still, I don't fault some meet and greet packs depending on the situation and artist. I get why they do them, even though they don't really interest me. At least it is better than GNR's current bullshit packs. I'm sorry, but you are a sucker if you get one of these packs. I paid face value for a pit ticket easily, why the hell would you pay 1-2k for a package? The stupid book? I have the VIP book, its pretty cheap and lackluster imo. The $20 program is better. The appetizer buffet? Go to a nice restaurant before the show. Spend $100-$200 for a meal in one of the nicest restaurants in your city. What else do they offer? Fucking nothing. Hell, I made rail getting there 20 minutes before. Early entry isn't even really worth it Edited May 7, 2017 by ZoSoRose
Gordon Comstock
Other than the early entry part, I don't get the appeal of the VIP packages. I actually bought one for the first show in Vegas because I wanted the early entry (rail) part, but at a stadium gig there's no point, as there's tons of room along the rail and not many people allowed in the pit (in north america). Plus there aren't really any perks to the VIP packages unless you're interested in what the backstage area looks like Random side note so I'll put it in a spoiler. The only 'meet and greet' I've ever done was for a Foxy Shazam show, where the VIP ticket was $20 more than the normal one, and came with early entry, a poster that the band all signed, and pictures with them. And they were cool to chat with people and sign other stuff. The poster alone was worth the $20! I know GNR and Foxy Shazam aren't comparable in terms of popularity (unless we count maybe the last tours of NuGNR? ) but it's ridiculous that GNR charge like a grand and they won't even acknowledge the people there. How much would it cost for them to take 30-45 minutes out of their day and sign albums and shit for people? (Probably more than I'm willing to pay anyway so I don't know why I'm bitching )
willl
At the 2nd Vegas show a lot of us stayed in a bar close to the arena and just had someone text us when Alice In Chains finished their set We entered the arena just as the neon GNR logo appeared. We weren't on the rail but had at most 5 rows of people in front of us, definitely close enough to enjoy it and see the band up close
Road Crew
The shows in Australia must have been set up differently I'm guessing. The WTTJ package was the only way to get access to the front pit which extended all the way along the front of the stage and went back for a fair way. I watched the GA race to the rail about half an hour after I got there and they were a ways behind us, with a two metre barrier with security separating the pits. I did hear of people getting upgrades from seated to the GA pit but not of any upgrades to the front pit. Anyway, like many have said it probably wasn't great value but if you have a bit of spare cash burning a hole in your pocket, well.....
