Slash Solo, Rocket Queen 2014

Made it 7mins in.... TOO! LONG! I don't care who's playing guitar, it could be the resurrected Jimi Hendrix, I still don't want to hear 30 minutes of noodling... and that's what that is, in case you're thinking it's something else.

I don't mind a longer than usual solo in RQ, IF he has to do it... but I'd almost leave the gig if he did that while I was there for 20+ minutes. For me, the really long solo just kills the impact of the rest of the song.

Finally, say what you want but at least those guys had the musical sense not to bore a crowd for 30 minutes with doodles, 2/3/4 minutes of solos and they wrapped it up. Nobody payed £30/60 to hear a 25 min guitar solo, not even people who adore the whole off Slash. There's something about certain guitar players as they age, losing their sensibilities for what people want to hear.

Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah...  predictable response... Slash gets away with it because he is a guitar GOD... Blah blah blah.. If you can't appreciate this as a Guns fan, you really need to do some soul searching and find a life outside of this band....

I love Slash but this is absolutely true, on his turff and in any other styles/genre as well.

Thank You! I agree with everything you said. Slash and Robin are awesome guitarists but Bucket is probably ten levels above them.

Dude I know all about slashes playing. I love his style, but when it comes to technical ability, knowing different styles, and improving over different things bucket is one of the best.

Now slashes riffs and memorable melodic lines are unmatched in that dept hands down.

I've always wished he did a blues album, and improving in that format. I've never dug any of his solo bands to much other then the occasional riff.

His improve over "hey Joe" is one of his best even tho he started out nervous.

I would love an entire album of blues!!!  But Myles...

I wish that he would record albums in the style of Albert King, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, B.B. King and Buckethead. Half hour long albums with different styles and techniques.

I couldn't agree more. It's beyond me why he hasn't done a jam album like "blues" from Hendrix.

Probably because songs like By the Sword gave him a bigger audience.

I get that but for me it's always a let down... None of it is guns level imho. I hear it wishing it was as good as a guns song and I can't stand alot of the lyrics and vocals. Even as technically good as they are I just don't see anything comparing.

If Slash is gonna do a Blues album it should be with Vivino

Before Slash joined back in Guns I was hoping he would always do a straight up blues album, jam it out. I'd like to hear him take a stab at putting together a traditional 12 bar blues song, I'd be cool hearing him record all covers even like "hey Joe". I'm glad he's back in guns. Maybe in another 20 years if he's still alive he will get around to doing something like that.

I'd love to hear him do some blues standards, and come up with something in that style as well. Little wing, the thrill is gone, stuff like that. I really thought he did a good rendition of Johnny b good on the NITL tour. As soon as I heard it I thought "why have you never recorded something like this!'
