Bob's mixes are very early ones and Axl's Advance Copy is supposed to be very late ones. someone correct me in this pls, if I'm wrong. rocknroll41 Posted August 6, 2020 Share Posted August 6, 2020 (edited) I posted this on discord but wanted to share it here too: I’m starting to wonder if maybe the reason the Pasha demos were left off of the AFD box is cause that’s where LLAS comes from. So maybe the band/label thought it would’ve been weird to only include the non-LLAS songs that were done at Pasha. I have a feeling that eventually that full session will get an official release (probably only after the band is 100% done, tho). EDIT: that is unless the original Pasha Master tapes were destroyed in the 2008 geffen vault fire (didn’t think of that until just now). I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask the question but does anyone have more information on the Alan Niven cds that were released back in 2005 or whenever it was? I've finally got around to sorting out all my old downloads and I was hoping to slot in the Alan Niven material in with the Appetite remaster. I have the program 'Spek' on my laptop so I decided to run the files through there and it shows that the FLAC files I have cut off at 16 kHz, indicating that their true bitrate is something like 128 kbps. Now, I'm not ungrateful - to hear these tracks is amazing. I'm just looking for any information on whether the files were ever truly lossless when they were shared. Going by the pictures from the ebay listings they look like your average early 2000s home mixtape cds so I'm doubtful that the original source cds were lossless. I also checked the Q Sound and Ruff UYI mixes and they're truly lossless, which is awesome. I haven't checked the Niven Marquee files yet but I assume they'll be lossy just like the CORNCHUCKER, JUMPIN' AX FLASH and UNDER MY HEAL releases. Thanks in advance for any additional info! I can't find it online and it's entirely possible it's a sped up and modified version of leaks out there. From my memory the radio promo doesn't sound like any of the leaks I've heard so far. zombux Posted April 21, 2021 Author Share Posted April 21, 2021 to my ear, the 3 promo snippets sound like again a more refined and "processed" versions of the Village leaks - if we look at the timeline, it kind of makes good sense. the Chinese Democracy intro riff sounds pretty much the same as the older leaks, just more "processed". I think Madagascar and The Blues have some additional guitar layers over it, but my memory doesn't serve too well on this. I think what they did was, just kept tinkering with the tracks in the Village studios since late summer 2000 to February 2004 - sometimes they actually worked on that, sometimes they didn't do anything. I think some work was reported to be undergoing after the VMA 2002 before the US tour kicked off so these snippets might be "samples" from that time in the studio, or also these could be "samples" from slightly earlier time before the Asian tour 2002 kicked off at Hong-Kong. we will probably never know. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think both had Richard Fortus overdubs. I believe the old layers are buried there in the mix. in the beginning, there's something which sounds like Buckethead killswitch (could have been re-recorded by Fortus of course) and Pitman synth (again, could have been re-recorded by Melissa) - I mean, it could have been re-recorded completely note to note just with different lead guitars, who the fuck knows. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
