billie
I know That GNR are a poor man's stones. I am not disputing that I am saying that GNR are the new Rolling stones, in terms of touring and resting on past laurels, a proven and profitable concept A touring band that does not create new music. And why would they? Why release new music that is open to criticizing when you simply don't have to In fact. New music would be a bad template You make all the money and keep all the love by just touring Rolling stones last good album early 80s? Popular Post Walapino
The Rolling Stones have a vast album catalog with brilliant albums (sticky fingers, beggars banquet, let it bleed, exile on main street among others), cant compare the two.

That is not true. They've put out three original studio albums since the '80s, Voodoo Lounge (1994), Bridges to Babylon (1997) and A Bigger Bang (2005).

adamsapple
The Rolling Stones are cultural icons with a shitload of great songs and albums and massive cultural impact over entire generations. GNR is a nostalgia act based on mainly one album and a couple of music videos. Mick Jagger is the best frontman in the world. Axl on a good day is the more impressive singer, but Jagger mops the floor with Axl when it comes to stage presence and connecting with an audience. GNR has better guitarists though. Forty Licks (2002) contained four original compositions whilst GRRR! (2012) contained two. Six songs is basically 1/2 an album. 3rd Wheel
Their histories are different, too. The Stones outlasted all the internal turmoil. GNR didn't.

Popular Post DieselDaisy
One way to look at is the following, Guns N' Roses are in their 33rd year of existence (1985 - 2018) and have released six studio albums to date (and I'm being generous here by including Lies and Spaghetti Incident). When The Rolling Stones were in their 33rd year (1995) they had just released their 20th studio album the previous year and were now touring this!! One can only dream!

©GnrPersia
Amazing how most die hard GNR fans (at least in this forum) can also be the most honest and fair people when it comes to such comparisons and judgement. Hats off really...

In fact, Guns n' Roses released 4 original albums, 1 cover album, 1 EP and 2 live albums since their debut album in 1987. Since 1987 the Stones released also released 4 original albums and 1 cover album. Plus 21 live albums. Then there's the 16 studio albums and 4 live albums released before 1987. Oh and in every other possible way GnR can only wish they're the new Stones.
ChristmasFnatic
Imagine if GN'R didnt break up. Maybe... just maybe they could be as big as Stones. So many years wasted. Sigh.
MYWIFEMYLIFE
GNR is better than RS, but inactivity for years makes it impossible to compare them to RS. GNR was gonna be the next Stones in 88, but missed that chance.

scooby845
GNR are GNR! They cannot be categorized by any merit. Are they bigger than Stones? Objectively - NO. On the other hand - if earning 500 mil (and surpassing Stones) based on ONE album isn't quality over quantity - I don't know what is. The bigger picture - the nuGnr era was detrimental to GNR legacy. So if you look at it from another perspective, GNR exits only 10 years (1985-93 + 2016-18). Their legacy is not finished... yet!
jacdaniel
I prefer Guns, probably why I'm on a Guns forum. 😂 Can't argue that Stones are bigger though

soon
Stones were going in to do an original album when they laid down there blues album in recent years. Richards mentions frequently that they plan at very least one more album. GNR have done neither the cover album recently or talked about an album in specific terms. 1 hour ago, DieselDaisy said: One way to look at is the following, Guns N' Roses are in their 33rd year of existence (1985 - 2018) and have released six studio albums to date (and I'm being generous here by including Lies and Spaghetti Incident). Axl_morris
GNR will template the career of the rolling stones now. Or should I say, universal/livenation. Go silent and every so often do a massive stadium tour and plaster the famous bullet logo everywhere.
