Pianist Conway Savage Passes Away: Nick Cave Creative Process

Axl's Agony Aunt

Recommended Posts

Conway Savage, pianist with Nick Cave, passed away this week at 58, inspiring a fitting epitaph by Cave on their website: 'On a drunken night, at four in the morning, in a hotel bar in Cologne, Conway sat at the piano and sang Streets of Laredo to us, in his sweet, melancholy style and stopped the world for a moment. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Goodbye Conway, there isn’t a dry eye in the house. Love, Nick and the Bad Seeds. It reminded me of Cave's soliloquy at the end of his film about making his last album, Push the Sky Away. Both the album and film are on YouTube if you like this clip.

Cave's deep thinking searching is probably similar to Axl's; on UYI. Maybe why Axl doesn't want to write any more; facing the old monster!
