vicson Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Nightrain as e rocker, Estranged as a more complex piece. Quote

Tom2112 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 My favourite is Estranged. If I was going to say to someone who had never heard GNR, i'd probably say for them to listen to something Welcome to the jungle, or maybe Civil war. I think Civil war covers both the grandiose aspect of GNR, with some of the fire breathing. Depends who's asking though, if it's an all out metalhead then maybe Garden of eden, if it's a soppy ballad fan maybe this I love or November rain, if it's someone into more experimental music maybe Better or Shacklers revenge. To me there's no quintessential Guns song. Quote
Its Tino Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 They are so all over the spectrum, I’d be remiss if I didn’t list 2. WTTJ and NR Quote
action Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 in the early 90's: knocking on heaven's door (because of ignorance and heavy radio play) mid 90s: you could be mine (because terminator 2) nowadays: it's so easy (because political incorrectness) Quote
megaguns1982 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 You could be mine. Still waiting on a afd era demo........ Quote
Twinaleblood Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Why hasn't anyone picked My World yet? Anyway, I wouldn't be able to pick just one: YCBM, It's so easy, Better, Locomotive... Quote
Popular Post WhazUp Posted March 12, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 12, 2019 (edited) For me maybe Rocket Queen! Rocket Queen itself encapsulates a lot of ground GNR covers - groove, swagger, biting guitar riffs, raw. But also the second half is more the "sweet" side of GNR. default_ Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Cant decide, Guns is one of those bands that has so many iconic songs that we cant chose just one. Every song tells a little history about what the band really is. 1 Quote
El Guapo Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 (edited) Interesting that about nobody (me included) here thinks of SCOM, which most people would probably choose. Edited March 12, 2019 by El Guapo Quote
gnfnrs1972 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Can a 57 year old millionaire come up with another WTTJ? Very unlikely. I want another AFD. We have 3 Use your Illusions type albums. Go back to your roots. I'm rambling, my answer is WTTJ. Quote

Swampfox Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 For me it's You Could be Mine. I still remember when the video hit MTV the band was on an all new level. That song made me go from fan to fanatic. 1 Quote

Exactly - the way RQ moves from one part to the next is awesome. Two very different halves but suit the song perfectly. It has EVERYTHING you would want in a song. An extremely close second is Estranged though. 2 Quote
Waemoth Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Rocket Queen for sure! It's got the same feeling as WTTJ, but it's just so much more. Estranged is very, very nice as well. 4 minutes ago, DTJ80 said: Exactly - the way RQ moves from one part to the next is awesome. Two very different halves but suit the song perfectly. DeadSlash Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 I don't think there is "a" song, as evidenced by multiple people naming more than one. I think that one of the most GnR things about GnR is how their songs are all over the place, as evidenced by so multiple people naming Estranged and Rocket Queen, 2 of their tracks that are two songs in one. 1 Quote
The Dissident Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 (edited) Rocket Queen with Civil War being a close 2nd. Edited March 13, 2019 by The Dissident 1 Quote
mikeman5150 Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Out ta get me from the ritz. If you know nothing about GNR, watch that performance and you’ll understand. Quote
