Nightmare on Elm Street 2 doesn’t get enough love in my opinion. It's also the gayest horror movie ever made.

No doubt.😄 For years the director denied the gay overtones in the movie, said it was unintentional,  but finally admitted he did it on purpose.  Anyway, I've always thought the movie was pretty awesome.  Freddy has a great line when he's at the pool and that dumbass kid tries reasoning with him and tells him not to be afraid that he's there to help him. Freddy responds with "help yourself fucker" then slashes him.  Classic.

They should make a horror movie about you watching a horror movie alone in an empty cinema at an ungodly hour in Poland.😄

I was relieved no one was there because there's something ''awkward'' about going to the movies alone, even though I guess it shouldn't... I often see people alone at the cinema. Plus it was in a foreign city, it's not like I'm going to run into a friend or acquaintance while I'm sitting there all by my lonesome.

Is there? I do it all the time.

There isn't, I'm too self-conscious really, I always feel like I'm in a Truman Show situation anyway, and especially then I'd think that everyone would be staring at me even though I know no one gives a crap.

Yeah, I'd say they're probably more concerned about following the film, than "look at that bloke sat on his own over there".

"Ticket for one, please" are probably some of the most popular words in my vocabulary.

Yeah, you don't go to the movies to talk anyway, but to watch a film, so whether someone is sitting next to you or not really shouldn't matter. I'm just a weirdo.

It's my 4th favorite film in the series (behind 1, 3, and New Nightmare). Freddy is still scary in it, I like that. I also like that the characters (for the most part) a believable and relatable. My biggest issue (and what keeps it from being a truly great sequel imo) is why would Freddy want to leave the dream world? He is essentially immortal there, why would he want to become human? It kinda goes against everything the character did in all the other films.

Having said that, it's a pretty good sequel. I always include it in my Freddy marathons. Clearly better than 5 and Freddys dead, and its debatable with 4. IMO 4 is the better, more fun film, but 2 is scary, so it gets the win for me.

Yeah, it seems like the second one was a bit of an outlier in the series.  I guess they wanted to explore something different than the original.  Then in the subsequent movies they kind of went back to the original formula. But it wasn't as drastic a departure as say, Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, which had absolutely nothing to do with the other movies.

"Do you wanna paaaaaaarty!" "It's Party Time!" Haha!

That was the first horror I ever saw so it's nostalgic as fuck for me and would definitely be in my top ten.... if I could whittle it down to ten.... which I can't.

Here's a few more...

Re-Animator

Creepshow

Braindead

Wolf Creek

REC/REC 2

Was just going to say that one as well, great film.

Wolf Creek man, I watched that on TV by complete accident and chiefly because the tv person announced it as a controversial film, like it was banned or proposed to be banned or something.

What did you think of it? I think it's really good but the realism and believability make it quite a tough watch.

Apart from the classics already mentioned, here’s one that not everyone may know: The Visit (2015). A very nice surprise to me. It’s more of a psycho thriller than a horror, but basically, you’ll be scared. Original, with suspense, greatly done.

I only saw it the once but I remember really liking it and it being quite fucking grim.  I think I saw it on Film4, if that channel even exists now.

I don't know how you can leave the 60's out of this discussion, with that said here are my top ten-ish:

(there are quite a few of these that can alternate with other films but it gives you the jist of my taste...and some I know you can argue aren't horror but you could argue they are as well, so whatever.)

Rosemary's Baby (Polanski)

Phantasm (Coscarelli)

The Brood (Cronenberg)

The Tenant (Polanski)

Videodrome (Cronenberg)

Phantom of the Paradise (De Palma)

The Neon Demon (Winding Refn)

Eraserhead (Lynch)

The Babadook (Kent)

A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (Amirpour)

Love three of those; Phantasm, Videodrome, and Phantom of the Paradise. "Long live the new flesh".😄

Cannot look past the Karnstein trilogy, Hammer's early '70s blood and bodice-rippers. The Vampire Lovers, Lust For A Vampire and Twins of Evil - I'd throw Vampire Circus into that same pot as well. Also don't forget Amicus's portmanteau horrors, Tales from the Crypt and Vault of Horror and stuff like that. Joan Collins worked a lot with Amicus. And then there was Tigon, the third of Britain's great horror companies; that was the studio who produced Witchfinder General. They tended to specialise in satanism haha.

Deer Woman, the Landis and son comedic horror deserves a mention

Masters of Horror!!! I watched these as they aired. Such an awesome concept a show, though admittedly some of the episodes were so-so.

Ive long thought Netflix should do a horror anthology in the vein of Tales from the Crypt/Masters of Horror.

Hammer is awesome. Love all the Cushing Frankenstein films.

Love Twins Of Evil as well.
