Again, why is anyone believing this? What is the original source? Unless someone has proof Rick said this himself it seems like absolute BS.

The person who posted this is 99% Towel Waver, a troll who's been spamming other forums lately under multiple accounts, pretending to leak things, spreading nonsense as info and posting dumb lists/threads to his discord channels.

Not sure why it's even being taken seriously or why this thread was bumped @downzy.

Oh Axl... :lol: I know I've been pretty outspoken about how I think Ron's CITR solo is horribly misplaced in this tune, but my god how he can go from a Brian May one to that is beyond me.

In addition, would love to understand what alternative solos are essentially in the vault, e.g. Was there ever a Bucket or Robin Catcher solo? (in the years between Brian May and BBF) Was there ever a Richard Fortus SOD solo recorded? (he did outro solo live one Bucket had left). Interesting stuff!

One would assume at least Robin laid down a solo at some point, I don’t have the CD booklet handy but I seem to remember that he played a the non-solo leads/guitar hooks/ whatever you call them.

A little off topic but you’d SOD comments made me wish the current band would do it with Slash doing the first solo & 4tus on the second.

The truth is Axl needs to adapt GNR to the modernity
BMTH are gonna release 4 new albuns next year (and they already released one last year)

He needs to be more flexible, release more than just one album every decade, release more singles, etc....
But probably nothing will be released, that's a shame

Axl is a great example of a great artist who had so much potential but never reached it fully

He realized his potential and then some. Fuck he was a global force. This wasn’t some guy who if he tried harder would have accomplished more as an artist. People act as if he had something more to prove.

I mean, dude is part of one genuinely amazing front to back album (Appetite), a mixed bag of great songs and filler (UYI I & II), a shitty cover album, and what amounts to a solo album that took 14 years to make and that a LOT of people hated. The prime of his career was what, four years long? Axl is the reason I'm a lifelong fan of rock and music in general, but let's be honest, the dude flamed out hard and wasted the majority of his career doing fuck all.

Although I do think that having a net result in only one new album in 27 years (29 if you disregard TSI?) definitely puts a checkmark in the "could have accomplished more" box for sure lol

Axl definitely left his mark as one of the greatest frontman of his time and who has rock hits that have proven to have longevity in the rock world which will never be able to be taken away from him.  But I also think if there was an award given for "greatest amount of missed opportunities since 1993" they would forego any nomination process and hand him the award straight away

But unfortunately for us GN'R fans this isn't true, Axl doesn't need to make any changes. He obviously hasn't got a need to be very productive, he obviously doesn't have a need to be in the spotlight, he obviously doesn't need to do anything besides what he is currently doing to be content. It's unfortunate for us, but it is what it is.

Its hard to understand him. In 06 he was hell bent on wanting to release new music and in 06 begged BH to stay as axls intention was to  release new music and then alter the setlist so  nothing pre 93 gets played. CD should have came out in 06 CD2 in 09 . He could have between 06 and 09, released new music but somehow it all fell apart and he no longer felt inspired. GNR has been a touring band ever since.

Ive edited this again. When fans asked axl on the online chats about a CD followup his response was "dont know dont care". I would like to know where his  head was and why his reaction was what it was, that obviously  was the start of gnr being a touring band in axls mind.

Well said. And if Weiland and others are to be believed there was almost a GNR reunion that same year, 2006! Like, what?

Axl gave himself enough of a headache with diva lead guitarists, between Finck and BH. Then while that lineup is falling apart in no small part due to the diva attitudes, Axls got Slashs lawyers in the hallway. Seems counterintuitive to me.

I'd pay good money if GN'R released a stylized flash drive like they offer on their merch site for AFD but for the Chinese Democracy sessions. Imagine a flash drive loaded with hundreds of various mixes of songs between 1995-2014 (or whatever) in lossless audio format.

They would probably want to do this after their next album drops, seeing how many of the songs on it are probably from the Chinese sessions.

It would be of interest only for the hardcore fans of course, but how many of us would pay hundreds for that? I know I would. Not sure how much effort it would take on their part to compile the audio for that.

I'd pay £200 for that in a heartbeat.

Ideally I'd want some sort of boxset package for the money though, with unpublished studio photos. And even better a Blu Ray with loads of studio footage. A Chinese Democracy documentary film would be the dream.

I would want all of that as well!

If they did a special edition AFD, and there is a UYI on the way, I’d be pretty certain something will appear for CD too. If these are being driven by the record company, they will know there is a certain market who want this (and I’d wager Axl would be chipping in as he did with the AFD photos).

Excellent point, that is reassuring.
