Axl mentioned that they were still trying to get the mix right back during his 2008 chats, so I imagine the final version (if there ever is one) will be pretty different. It sounded nothing like I had imagined for years. But after listening to it quite a bit since, I've grown to love it. The drums are absolutely killer, mixed in with that kind of earthy, jam band guitar going on in the background, and Axl's vocal melodies. The part which starts "I'll be the last to say..." is probably my favorite part of the song (plus the melodic intro). The vocal melodies remind me of Catcher for instance.
