Arnuld
Which do you prefer- The original 2008 release or a theoretical 2001 release with this track list with a proper mix and fully mastered- Chinese Democracy Hard School State of Grace The Blues Atlas Shrugged IRS Perhaps Silkworms TWAT Eye on You Catcher in the Rye Riad Madagascar Prostitute Both 14 tracks. Roughly the same length. I think the 2001 edition is the better album Chinese Democracy Hard School State of Grace The Blues Atlas Shrugged IRS Perhaps Silkworms TWAT Eye on You Catcher in the Rye Riad Madagascar Prostitute Chinese Democracy Hard School State of Grace The Blues Atlas Shrugged IRS Perhaps Silkworms TWAT Eye on You Catcher in the Rye Riad Madagascar Prostitute
Gordon Comstock
If you replace Eye On You with Oh My God, then CD 2001 is one of the best rock albums of that time. Either way, 2000 Intentions >>>> the released version of CD

Gackt
2008 album, solely for the Buckethead solos. If the 2001 album was released like that and a follow-up with songs like Prom Violence and Dub Suplex were featured on the following album a year or two later, I'd change my mind.
estrangedtwat
I can't imagine anyone but the most hardcore psycho Axl sycophants actually insisting non-ironically that the watered down, neutered package we got in 2008 was better than all the stuff we've just heard which is just teeming with potential. If you put a theoretical Oklahoma and Zodiac on the list 2001 wins hands down. Silkworms and Eye on You create Parity
TheSeeker
It's a Use Your Illusion situation Enough material for two discs, only enough *good* material for one disc Glad we got to hear it all, regardless
rocknroll41
I think we already have a thread for this, and I still think the 2008 version of the album is the best.
luciusfunk
I’ve gotta go with 2001 based on the mixes we’ve heard and the unreleased songs. I’d definitely add Oh My God, maybe skip Silkworms. The music is pretty cool, but the lyrics are atrocious.
mr-fukaji
Never thought i'd say it but the 2001 album before Buckethead and Brain is a truy great rock record, especially for the time and overall its just a better record. 2000 Intentions is a coherent album put together with some sort of purpose that all feels organic and written by a band. The 2008 album that came out if the same album but designed by a committee.

F*ck Fear
The 2008 album. 'There Was A Time', 'Better', & 'Prostitute'. If only because of these three songs.

Maybe the issue here is your lack of imagination. I think the official version is diluted in some ways but improved in others. It has nothing to do with the kind of fan I am. Tyronehell
To me the 9 song Antiquiet leaks had the best mixes of the album tracks. All the the overdubs from Bumble on the album never sat well in the mix for me when hearing the album version.
